(North) East Bound & Down...

...loaded up and trucking, we're going to do what they say can't be done...

Against my better judgement, taking the 90 from Alexandria VA to upstate NY tomorrow morning (Wednesday) around 0600. For those who followed the initial saga you'll understand .

Route will be 95N from Virginia, to Jersey Turnpike, to Garden State Parkway, to Route 17 (also in NJ), to the New York State Thruway. I only ask that the board members along this route monitor this thread in the event a daring roadside rescue is necessary.

I'm guessing I only need to: a) make it less than 100 miles from our place in VA, or b) make it within 100 miles of our place in NY...since that's where AAA would take care of the rest.

So it's the 225 miles in between where I'll need the coverage.

If you make it either 3 miles up 395 or get stuck in Manhattan on Friday, I'll be your huckleberry. Note that if you need help in Manhattan, I'll have nothing but a cell phone and fountain pen. But I'll buy you a drink while we wait for a flat bed.

I mentioned this to others...it's not that I expect anything to happen...I frequently hop in the '71 Series IIA and drive 200 miles+ without thinking twice, BUT you never know...and since it'll be a 400+ mile trip one-way figure it can't hurt to plan "just in case".

You'll do fine - she proved herself on the Rausch trip.

Dos. I've just started leaving one in the dash area...doesn't get any more Johnny-on-the-spot than that!

That is actually true...one is Pedro's...I've been meaning to get another one and return that, but it just hasn't happened and I'm too leary to roll with only 1!

Don't worry, it's only on temporary loan buddy .

Alright folks...made it with almost no issues...literally the last 10 minutes to go I heard a "PING" and thought "hmmm". Said screw it, almost there (was heading pretty much straight to our shop anyhow). Gas'd up heard a nice grumbling going on from up front, similar to the alternator grumble (which I literally had replaced a couple days before the trip since I had toasted the prior alt from Rausch). So figured it was a pulley/etc.

Pulled into the shop (as I was going to be going the clutch master/slave/flex line since it was leaking, and welding my exhaust). Popped the hood and the AC pulley had totally fallen off...and was laying on top of the front chassis rail! So that was the noise I heard. AC was running the onboard air anyhow so just cut the belt and will deal with it later.

But was lucky the pulley didn't go into the fan, through the radiator, or into the other belts. Otherwise some of you may have gotten a call...and thanks for all the offers of support by the way. I frequently drive the 110 to NY, but this was the longest drive in the 90 since the recent purchase.
