No, I met him Sunday driving a 110 4.2 carb- which was quieter than his 300 previously ;-) But then again, I couldn't hear him leave above the 7.3 with 4" straight exhaust...

Car and Driver recorded a 66 db at 70 mph cruise when they tested the LR3..

I wear ear plugs on long highway trips. The soft top is actually quieter without a top, then with the top on (lots of flapping noise) at highway speeds..
A 3dB increase represents a doubling.

What ?

Dale yours purrs compared to mine with no waste gate. As Trey says every time we go under an overpass and get the reverb, "its a good thing the exhaust tip is 20 feet back. Good to see you Sunday. Already have the tires mounted and on the Classic. Sunday was an awesome morning for a drive through the mountains in a 110 with a 4bbl, especially with gas @ $1,89 a gallon. I had her singing.

Josh the daily tow rig is a crew cab with long bed 4x4 ford f250 with the huge 7.3 engine and she's a long long way from stock. Truck is 24 ft long and the turning radius is horrendous but great for long distance runs like we seem to do weekly. 399k on the odometer

What would you say is the #1 noise reduction to be done to a D90? Besides parking it, I mean...

Dynamat... and lots of it! You'd be surprised how quiet you can get an SW when you combine Dynamat and Dynaliner.

3 dB = double, but yeah.

I downloaded the app and it seems to be disproportionately sensitive to high-frequency noise. It might be worth experimenting with attenuating the high-freq noise by muffling the mic.

Looks like my 110 would have some room for improvement, even though as a CSW it has full carpeting front to back. One thing that certainly made a big difference for me was switching to a 1.2 transfer box instead of the usual 1.4. As for the wife noise level, well all I can say is just wait until you have kids fighting with each other in the back.

I take the Defender because the wife won't ride in it.
