Welcome Andy. Congrats on the purchase and for having the intuition to get involved with such a great site. I too look forward to the new phase of D90, but will caution you to always keep in mind what made the site so good that it motivated you to sink capital into it.

Just to clear up the confusion, there was actually 2 different "stores". From the sites main page (www.d-90.com) there is a link in the navigation to the original store I sold all the product I had purchased and had on hand. When that supply started to drop, rather than put out the cash for another refill order of stuff I would have to store in my home, the Cafepress store was opened which a link to to that is on the right hand panel in the main page. At one point I also included a link to the Cafepress store in the old store page but now looking at it, it is no longer there, either a result from the last software upgrade or it was removed from that page. Honestly I may have removed it after the sale since the Cafepress store is under my premium account that I do other things under so that may have been entirely what happened. So whatever happened, its kind of OK for the moment until a new direction for a store under Andys control is come up with.

Chris, you can leave the store under your account for the foreseeable future. Once we get settled we can look at having our own shirts made since we can get higher quality screen printing and tees for a fraction of the cost and thus offer them for much less. Stocking is a PITA and something I have not figured out yet since we don't have an office and I am overseas a good portion of the year.

To easily get to the "new" store, you can click on the logo in the left corner, it takes you out to the main page and you will see the store logo on the right!

When will the link be available for existing members where we can avoid the incoming flood of advertisements?

If you want advice for existing members, (you probably don't) please keep the heavy-handed editing and deleting of posts to a minimum. I'm a fan of letting the inmates run the asylum (see discoweb), to a certain extent. I know some people here think dweb is too harsh, and I understand that. However, letting members discourage bullshit has value in my opinion.

In the end, I would hate to see this site end up like LRO or Expo, which aren't worth the time of logging in.

Well congrats Andy and welcome to the community! I would like to see the non-forum part of the website revised to be better organized and more robust to easily look up handy references and projects. I actually like how discoweb has a how to technical section for common projects with the user community built tutorials.

Also, unlike most others, I would like to see the ads, so dont' grandfather me! Ads are how I learn about new sales and service retailers, as well as new products.

Ads can be useful to an extent, but when it gets to the point of LRO, it's ridiculous how slow and unresponsive the site is.

Here, count how long it takes to open this thread. Takes forever for ad.doubleclick and the like to respond and load there, therefore slowing down the site in general, and hindering the experience of its users.

You think it's bad to use you should try moderating LRO, they even have ad's on the pages I use to ban the spammers....

That said Welcome Andy and friends.

@Lucasd2002 - Chris has had some Community Rules (link) in place for a long time. We plan to expand the Site Team to include a few more long time members. The reason for having a larger team is so that we can have more perspectives when figuring out how to deal with issues. It will be up to our team to decide where to draw the line in the sand.

I agree, that setup on LRO is ridiculous. I see 7 ads in the left hand column alone. More importantly is the design of the site and where the ads are placed and how that effect the page load time. Basically modern browsers will render the page as it download. Since these pages are made with HTML tables the left hand column sits higher in the HTML source then the content of the page (posts). That means it has to wait for all those ads to load before it will show and of the posts. Since some of those look to be 3rd party ad tags you cannot control the latency of them. If one network is responding slowly the whole page will hang, lame. If they would just move that to the right of the threads it would speed up loading of the posts considerably. The reason they have the ads on the left (which causes the page to load slower) is because of what is called a heat map. Since we read left to right our eyes always scan to the far left and it's proven that ads over there get more clicks.

You know, I honestly can't stand this kind of crap. If you think it's funny, I'd ask you to reevaluate. If your intent is use the site for your own personal amusement, I'd ask you to just get lost. Some people here doubtlessly derive amusement from keeping track of who is hating on who, and whose turn it is in the barrel, but they are the minority.

And I'm not entering into a debate about this here. Everyone knows what sort of behavior is decent and cool, and is isn't it.
