The AEV Brute was in all the auto mags this month including a detailed looked at from Overland Jrnl. Nice looking rig but think it's close to the $100k range when all done. I'd go for a 110 at that price point but can see the appeal of the JK's. I'd would love to see Land Rover put out a product that could compete with it.

There are tons of "I used to be a loyal land rover owner but have seen the light and bought a Rubicon" on ExPo. Funny how we don't get those here. Usually Discovery people.

If I had $100k to spend, I'd be tempted to call a certain place in Maine and get them to build me something.

Some low sulfur only diesel unit with a super complex electrical system. Not a clean or restored Defender with a 300tdi? You wouldn't even be able to fill up in Mexico yet.

I don't go to Mexico, modern electronics don't scare me im sure it woild havea warranty. A clean restored 110 is something that I will never be able to afford.

Well then here's to hoping that the J8 Jeep becomes a reality.

According to AEV the J8 Jeep doesn't look to be happening...

Up here in Stuart (pop. approx. 16,000) I think there about 6,000 JKs just like it running around.

Yet all the lights shine away from the driver! ;-) I'm afraid that this specimen reminds me of my neighbor's pug. Fugly! I'm sure it's amazing, but I'd rather walk.

I'm a huge buy-U.S., nationalistic conservative, obnoxious ugly American and proud of it! Perhaps just one smoke stack shy of flying a big A$$ American flag from my truck ;-) And I loved jeeps (cj's, wranglers, whatever) until I was 16. But then I saw my first Defender!

Jeeps are like suburban kids getting tattoos; they're all trying to be different in the same way!

I'd rather we had built it, but since we didn't, I'll be a black sheep in my 90 (despite its comparative shortcoming to the modern JK) until the day I die.

I've always said the Defender is what the Jeep should have been. However, in terms of pipeline products, it looks like things have reversed. Jeep is now building what JLR should be building for a Defender replacement. The DINO Gerry McGovern and company are trying to push as a Defender is a joke. I won't trade my LR for a Wrangler Africa, but I sure may buy one instead of the DINO...

Agreed. If I was a fresh to the market (owning or experiencing nothing, I would do the same.
