Someone should make up a tally of how many times and for how many years this post comes up....

"It's the Patek Philippe," says McGovern.

I don't know what the hell that means, but no green blooded purist would ever use that in a sentence me thinks.

Purist? Good lord, he is so far from that it is ridiculous to even think about it. Nobody in charge of LR has any idea of the history of the brand and what it means.

If he wants a real watch analogy, the new Defender should be a Timex. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking.

Money is made on Mall Cruisers, not offroaders. Need the surfer in California demographic.

Yes, but mall cruisers decide on their purchase based on image. If the brand has the image of a tough off road vehicle, that helps sales of the expensive vehicles in the brand.

Image alone didn't save the Hummer brand when all they had to offer was the H3. If they still had the H1 as well, maybe..

Tell that to Jeep. Somehow they have managed to continue to sell a decent off-roader.

Why did hummer stop selling AM General trucks to the civilian market? They were making money hand over fist on each one. Talk about markup!

Was it just lack of volume?

They also produce the Liberty, Patriot and Compass. They were smart to stick with the same formula for the Wrangler. I see JKs everywhere.

Our only hope is if the Defender is a truly global platform, it will be a bit more rugged than 95% of vehicles offered in the US. If is geared to our market, its done.

SUVs as a whole are becoming glorified people carriers.

Too much talk about the DC100, i hope they dont sell it here, if they figure out how too make an honest replacement for the defender then by all means bring it here, but if its gonna be a unibody with independent suspension and with a gas motor and automatic for the US market then leave that shit in europe or dont try to call it the next gen defender.

They are even wrecking the RRS. http://www.motorauthority.com/image/...port-spy-shots That window line is terrible and looks like a bigger Evoque.

Yeah, but you can see they removed the Land Rover oval in the grill behind the Volvo grill. Sad that they're so embarrassed with the truck that they have to mask it as another brand (Volvo). hahaha.

You see where they are going with it. Location of the vents on the front must mean it has whiskers. The front bumper must be pedestrian friendly!

The sheetmetal to window area ratio on the doors and rear quarters on the new range rover and sport is absolutley disgusting. It seems like visibility will be very poor with that small of windows.
