Newbie Top Question

I am still in the market for a D-90 and will be buying my first one soon! I really want a fiberglass hard top and a full roll cage (that covers the rear area). Does the fiberglass top go over the full cage, or do they typically just have the front roll bar?

Gracias!

on a soft top defender, the fiberglass top goes over the full cage. Not sure about station wagons.

This may be an obvious question to you guys, but why do some D-90s have a full cage over the rear area, and some just a roll bar?

The rear part of the cage is removable. I did it once, looks good, but you loose your rear seatbelts, and soft top support.

I run with the fast back set up and a full safari rack. We go camping so I need the storage space. My full top has started to rip at the corners so I took the tub roll bar set up off.
My understanding is a standard D-90 had the full roll bar set up , i.e. covered the rear tub, and that the fiberglass top goes over it. I had a fiberglass top on my 1994 but did not like it. Hot in the summer and winter alike. And a not so easy to put on.

Actually Paul early on, any top at all was an ad on option. When I was buying my 90 new I looked at some at Land Rover Greenville, NC. They had 3 brand spanking new '94 90s sitting on the lot completely topless.......... in the rain. It was love at first sight.
