New toy

I sold my 200tdi 110. It was a tough decision. But i got a great car back for it a 1968 series1.5 e-type. If you think defenders have rust then don't buy a E-type. Lots of rust. Its going to be a fun project, but costly.

I still have my 300 tdi 110 so not defenderless!

Very rewarding considering the market for Jags right now... Beautiful car, it's on my list to add to the collection, congrats!

Ah ...the Jag. Beautiful. Good choice.

Can't see that model and not think of Harold and Maude.

I love the Jag! It's so much fun to drive. I always love the series one e-types. But mot of them are already restored and way out of my budget. I would like to have a coupe but was out of my league to. So i settled for a 2+2. The cheeps e-types you cans find.

She looks good on the pictures but a closer look will show a lot of rust. Looking at the panels i have to replace on the Jag, you really start loving the defender for it's simplicity!

Great Car, don't worry about the rust enjoy it. Here's what ours looked like on finding it it had sat there for 6 years in the open and the tin worm loved it

I don't have any finished pics as it isn't, but has all NEW steel in the floors and boot

Thanks guy's.

The 2+2 are cheaper just because folks don't like them so much. The lines are a bit different 9 inches longer and a bit higher roof. I like them to. Its always a trend first they wanted all a convertible, now they all want a coupe. Maybe 10 hers from now it will be the 2+2. The other funny thing is that they chopped a lot of coupes the build a convertibles. They where is such high demand and selling for crazy $$ that they chopped up a lot of coupes. Now the coupes are getting fairly rare and expensive.

For ROVERMAN. I like your series 2. Did you replaced the floor and boot your self? Where the inner and outer sills still ok? Mine are shot.

Yes have done the lot here at home, biggest thing is to make a level cradle for when you start chopping stuff out, I found it best to check the parts books to see how things are put together replacing the floors and such cut all out and put in new. I think now you can buy complete sections, I did it in three sections. I did one side sill in and out, again I had a measured frame to keep things straight.

I got a bit more to do to the rear end and got to start thing about paint (BRG)

Good Luck

looking for some carbs if you happen across any cheap!, still looking as we lost the old ones to hurricane IKE

A buddy of mine, who also has a D90, owns a 1965 e-type FHC that is in absolutely perfect condition. I'll get him to send me a pic and post it soon. Love that car!

That's awesome. I remember watching the racing series they had to promote the 220 when first released.

Nice to see all the pics! Its great to see the we have a common passion for British cars.

For Roverman. I keep my eyes and ears open when i find some i let you know. But the word cheap and E-type does not go wel together!

I am looking to find a jig where i can secure the body in before i start open her up.
