New Tires

Pretty stoked...some new meats for the 90. Went with the BFG MT KM2's in 255/85R16. Had to sign a waiver at Costco to get them (rollover risk, don't sue us if you roll your truck) but the price was killer with a $70 instant rebate. Here are some pic's. I think the size is perfect with the standard OME springs.

I have the original BFG MT's in that size and have been happy but the new tread looks completely different. Will be interested to hear how the ride on and off road and how much noise they make. And I agree - the size looks just about perfect. Have you measured the diameter? Is it a true 33" tire?

BTW, very nice looking truck :

That is a great looking rig. I'm also curious what you think of the new style tread. I like the old design, but it slides around on loose dirt roads.

Nice truck. I just purchased a set of those on Monday and am picking them up on Saturday. Got a great price on the tires too, $169/ea with the extra $70 rebate. Wanted the size you got but don't have the lift so I had to go 265/75. I really do like the old design better but since they're phasing them out, I thought it was better to go with the new design. I'll post a pic as soon as I get them mounted.

I just ordered a set of the KMs in 255/85 a few days ago. I was trying to decide between the KMs and KM2s, but I really like the look of the old skool KMs much better. I too will be heading to Costco to have mine put on next week!

I've also gotten different stories from all the tire shops. A few say the KMs are being phased out, and a few are saying the KM2s are going away.

I wanted the KM's also but couldn't find them and just decided to get the KM2's. Supposedly they strengthened the sidewalls. Like em so far. Bit more noise than the BFG AT's. They ride nice. Off road testing in 2 weekends up in the Sierras so I will report back.

Costco filled them with Nitrogen. Anybody know whats up with that? Haven't ever had that before.

Nitrogen is non-corrosive and is also thicker than air so it should lose less pressure over time.

looking good. I really like the KM2's on my Classic, they do well even with 40 pounds of air in them. They are amazing with 15.

nitrogen is great for on road but limits your ability to air down when off road. At least as I understand it you can't mix air with the Nitrogen. so if you air down you have to refill with nitrogen. I could be wrong, it happened once before!

I will assume that he is talking about the stuff we inhale on a daily basis.

Earth's atmosphere is a layer of gases surrounding the planet Earth that is retained by the Earth's gravity. It has a mass of about five quadrillion metric tons. Dry air contains roughly (by volume) 78.08% nitrogen, 20.95% oxygen, 0.93% argon, 0.038% carbon dioxide, and trace amounts of other gases. Air also contains a variable amount of water vapor, on average around 1%. The atmosphere protects life on Earth by absorbing ultraviolet solar radiation, warming the surface through heat retention (greenhouse effect), and reducing temperature extremes between day and night.

I have about 16k on a set of Km2's 285.75.16. The tires show no appreciable wear and I love them off road.

It would be cool have have someone check the comp of gas removed from a tire that was filled with Nitorgen by a tire store.

Honestly... Do you think they remove all of the old "air" and ensure that there was 100% Nitrogen

80% vs 90% vs 95%

I just had a great idea!!!

I am going to make new device that will take normal air and convert it to 78.08% nitrogen... I will have Vince from Shamwow fame sell it. My wife can design it and then I can say it was developed by a Chemical Engineer.

The money will start rolling in any min now...

So does anybody know if you can or cannot mix normal "air" with nitrogen? What would happen if you did?

I will be airing down in about a week and a half so I guess I gotta figure this out now.

Solve this riddle and you will have your answer

What is:
Stronger than God,
More Evil than the Devil,
A Rich Man wants it.
A Poor Man has it.
And if you eat it, you die

The answer is "nothing"

Nothing is greater than God,
Nothing is more evil than the devil,
Poor people have nothing,
Rich people need nothing,
If you eat nothing you will die.
