So I'm officially becoming an Old Man now... My first brand new vehicle.
2016 F150 XLT Supercab 5.0l 4X4 3.55 with the locker and towing package. Magnetic Metallic with the medium earth(?) interior. 40/20/40 front seat.
Super excited. I've had a '77 C10, '87 Ranger, 2000 F150 7700, '96 Dodge Cummins, 2002 2500HD, and FINALLY a brand new truck. Super excited.
The main reason I was so stoked about the new F150s is the aluminum body. EVERY ONE of those aforementioned pickups has melted back to the earth as a pile of rust here in Upstate, NY. I'm hoping that I can get a nice long run out of this truck without having to put rockers, cab corners or bed arches on them. We'll see what happens with the aluminum corrosion.
The other selling point is that these half-ton trucks have really impressive capacities these days. Previously I've been buying 3/4 ton trucks, and now I don't need to. Apparently my truck is good for towing 9100lbs.
The EPA test says 22MPG on the highway unloaded. Pretty impressive compared to my 2500HD that got 11MPG everywhere and had less power.
Anyone have an opinion on spray-in bedliners?
