New Land Rover tow vehicle

So I'm officially becoming an Old Man now... My first brand new vehicle.

2016 F150 XLT Supercab 5.0l 4X4 3.55 with the locker and towing package. Magnetic Metallic with the medium earth(?) interior. 40/20/40 front seat.

Super excited. I've had a '77 C10, '87 Ranger, 2000 F150 7700, '96 Dodge Cummins, 2002 2500HD, and FINALLY a brand new truck. Super excited.

The main reason I was so stoked about the new F150s is the aluminum body. EVERY ONE of those aforementioned pickups has melted back to the earth as a pile of rust here in Upstate, NY. I'm hoping that I can get a nice long run out of this truck without having to put rockers, cab corners or bed arches on them. We'll see what happens with the aluminum corrosion.

The other selling point is that these half-ton trucks have really impressive capacities these days. Previously I've been buying 3/4 ton trucks, and now I don't need to. Apparently my truck is good for towing 9100lbs.

The EPA test says 22MPG on the highway unloaded. Pretty impressive compared to my 2500HD that got 11MPG everywhere and had less power.

Anyone have an opinion on spray-in bedliners?

That's way wayyyy too clean for this thing. Some psychopath I work with has a full Chevy embroidered bed rug with hard fiberglass tilting tonneau cover. All he does is put his golf clubs back there. Should've just bought a Tahoe.

HAHA! In the last 2 years I had the Landy confiscated, Will got it back for me, got married, and had a baby. The world is turning mighty fast.

Thanks Kenny. Is that like a hard coating, or a rubbery coating? Did you have it done around here?

Sounds like you need a 5 door 110 then. The Ford is still going to rot, accept that now and you will be ok with it in 6 years when you are buying new bumpers and watching the frame disintegrate.

Danny - it is a hard finish. Check out LINE-X Sprayon Bedliners, Protective Coatings, Truck Bed Coating, Floor Coating, Industrial Flooring I am sure they have samples for you to see before you make the selection of what you want to go with. Back in 07' the GMC was done at Saratoga LineX but they are no longer open. I have another vehicle I need to get done in the next month or so. It will be done at LineX of Albany.
