New iPad

Anyone else get the new iPad today?

I'm not really a "Mac" guy but I picked up an iPad one on the opening day when they first came out. Just happened to be out shopping and wandered into an Apple store when I saw the masses of people and I figured something cool must be out now. I had no idea they were even making an iPad at the time. So I got one and loved it.

I did try an asus transformer prime lately but I sent it back. I was all about having flash, but it really didnt make things that much better.

The screen is pretty sharp, the resolution is great.

Buying an iPad by standing in line at the Apple store is too geektacular. If you must have the best screen to watch old TV shows, I guess it's a good thing.

Me and iPad don't get on very well; in fact, it makes me very, very angry indeed. I've told Mrs Red not to let me anywhere near it or so help me God, I'll chuck it out the window as far as it'll go. Grrrrr. She loves it though.

I bet that retina display is great on the iPad. It was a huge improvement on the iPhone4. I'm sure photos look amazing at that resolution.

Aye, Jeff it is really good for that until I accidentally tilt it in the wrong direction and the text goes sideways. Then I'm left turning it around a dozen times in an effort to confuse it. I swear it's laughing at me when I do this. Grrrr.

You can lock the orientation.

You can set the mute switch to lock orientation. I hope you are not holding it, reading it and driving....

iPads are OK but they are substantially overpriced. If they cut the price in half, it would make sense.

51% GPM is pretty standard. The 4G version is $310 in part cost alone.

I got mine yesterday and it is the most amazing screen I have ever seen, on any device, period. It's a lot like looking at a printed magazine that is backlit...but somehow better. I'm impressed.

The only reason I went 4G version is so I can get the real GPS chip. It replaced my Garmin in the truck. Works great with MotionX GPS HD.

Amazing how many iPads are turning up in presentations, sports training, airline flights etc.

We have 3...they are fantastic and iCloud/wifi sync makes managing them a dream.

disclaimer: I am probably considered a fanboy. :-(

If you have a wifi iPad, can you connect it via BT to an iphone and surf?

I worry that iPads are consumed (not eaten ) without a thought while those making them are put in jeopardy. What is the world coming to when something so useful (not to me, mind ) can cause so much misery to those manufacturing it? Perhaps I shouldn't have a conscience and move on. Yeah, move one.
