New Guy Thread

Didn't see an area for the new guys to post. I am a new owner as of Thursday and looking forward to meeting some of you and learning more about my LR90.

Everything works great on it so I plan to drive it like it is. Don't know what I would change other than a roll cage over the back bed if they have something like that.

Yes got it for $5K.

Doesn't look SD based on the front mount (but I'm no SD expert), but regardless...$5k! I would have bought that for $5k! The doctor needs to hook me up with a 5k rig. Congrats, Trey. What windshield is that? Looks special.

I have no idea about the cage but have been looking tonight at an option to cage over the rear bed somehow. Suggestions? What is Grey Market?

A safety devices full external cage for a station wagon would actually work well on there. That would replace the front cage, cover the bed, and conform to the shape of the cab a little more closely.

That cage looks like one of the Betaweld(sp??) cages. When it passes through the front wing, it extends down to the outrigger wher it sits on a sleeve welded to the outrigger, and then welded or bolted together. The owner died some years ago, and the wife shut down the co.

its a custom cage, and a really tight truck. The thing hauls ass for a defender and is fun to drive. I spent a few months tooling around in it, because it was so much fun. And she looks good in person too.

Yes I am amazed at the condition this thing is in. Every last thing works flaulessly. There is a slight tick on the left side of the engine that may be a lifter sticking I will fix next week but other than that it is amazing. Is there a good source for info on the axles, transmission (5-speed), T-case etc.

------ Follow up post added September 6th, 2010 12:44 PM ------

I also got a set of Dicso rims with it, what kind of lug nuts do I need to run those rims and what size tires? What is a good source for step sides that will fit this vehicle? You know I am going to wear you guys out with questions for the first few weeks.

that is the rover v8 lifter noise, the tranny is lt-77, lt 230 tcase. Not sure if axles are 10 spline or 24 spline, but stock 3.54 gears. Does it have drums in the rear? the alloys need the alloy lugs, I think Joel and Wolf fab have some for sale side steps or rock sliders?
