The good news about that diesel engine, is that its here to stay. The Ford F150 is getting it for 2018. I would hate to buy something that could be mechanically "ophaned" when the manufacturer stops selling it.

There is a white TDV6 at Land Rover North Point with the tow package, black roof rails, and the black headliner that I got to sit in yesterday. Its better looking in person although the rear end is a little awkward looking - but in order to have the big useful opening that we like to have on a Discovery I'm guessing it was the best possible solution. The view over the hood is good with a lot of adjustment in the front seats. The interior is a step up from previous generations. There os lots of room under the hood - its not as tightly packed as the LR3.

Just remember how much some of us disliked the LR3 when it came out. Blame CAFE standards for the universal bar of soap look of most modern cars.

I had a 2003 Discovery, and I loved that thing. Mechanically it was a POS. But at least it looked like a SUV.

It doesn't look like a Rover. Gee I miss the alpine windows.
The LR3/4 are finally growing on me.

The new Discovery is the reason I'm rebuilding the motor in my LR3!

I stopped by the Colorado Springs Land Rover dealership the other day and spent some time with a 2017 Disco they had out front. After playing around with the computer inside, the seats, and changing the configuration a bit, I was very underwhelmed. Seems like a lot of money for a ton of technology and not much else. I'm sure it's amazing on and off the road, but it's not for me. I went home and took my 110 for a drive just for fun. That's a real rover IMO.

I agree. There is nothing/zero special about the new discovery. The impression was fat and round with the edges falling off so quickly that you don't know where the front corners are. The back end was one big blind spot with a narrow opening. The paint finish on this white one was like a Honda Civic. Nothing like the warm tones and quality I remember lusting for when the Classics were new.
