New Bond Flick

Saw an advance screening of Casino Royale tonight, and let me say this:
Ford must have sponsored it. TONS of RR and LR3s, every 3rd car is a Jag, Bond even rents a Fusion.
But the kicker, in the first 5 minutes there are 3, bad ass, covered in mud, getting off-roaded, Beluga black, Hard top 110s, and you even see the inside with the jump seats.

Oh, and the movie's pretty damn good too.

Ford Premeire auto group has done 2 Bond movies already. Too bad it won't stop them from losing big money this year. Was it hard to accept Craig Daniel and Bond? I hear a lot of "purists" spat on the ground when they heard he was picked because he's blond and he's got a rep as a pussy. He's also anti-gun as well, and the NRA pointed that out, but selfishly wouldn't hesitate to pick up a gun for benefit of his career. Limosine liberal and part of the do as I say but not as I do crowd.

A "Must see"

I had reservations about his ability to pull it off. But, pull it off, he did! He's funny as hell in some scenes. I won't give it away, but the crowd was rolling. IMO, he fit the part perfectly, the doubts I had were shed within minutes.

The story was somewhat predictable, yet still delivered. Bond in post 9/11 world with 21st century humour. It also showed a side of Bond we have never seen before. No, not his ass, but of his personality, his psyche.

I, too was very pleased to see the 3 black 110s. Did you all catch a glimpse of the military 110 (or 109) just before the Defenders drove up?

Whatever his beliefs about guns off-camera, it didn't show on camera. He wasted so many bad guys, the fight scenes were excellent.

OK, enough, I think I'll go to see it again tonight.

Cheers!

Javier

Yeah, I think my wife and I will actually pay to see it again in the theatres. Craig actually pulls it off, but it may be they hired some decent writers this time who weren't stuck in 70's era puns. I'd put it up there with The Rock as far as a good action movie with creative writing and an english accent.

Who cares. I hate guns. I have my reasons. I don`t believe in condemning those that are for them, but I have my reasons for not liking guns, and I`ll openly say it. Let me say this though.... If you put a check for $5 million in my hand (or maybe even more, who knows what he is earning for the movie), all my personal beliefs and feelings about guns could be cast aside... Let alone if it`s for a James Bond movie. I would imagine that being chosen to play James Bond is about as large a compliment as you can get as an actor.

You can hate on an inanimate object all you want, just like you can hate cars and swimming pools (all which kill more people and children than guns statistically) Sure being bought out with money is an expected choice for most and not to judge your character because I'm not perfect either but there are some in this world that respect others based on how they adhere to their own ethic/moral principles (whatever they are). That said, I think I might go see it anyway just to see the defenders and the action and of course.......the guns.

Neil

PS: Best movies to see Land Rovers and Guns is Lord of War IMHO

The Hollywood double standard? Rosie Odonald (spl) thinks they should ban guns but her bodygaurd carries one. We should all drive electric cars except for when they drive up to the Oscars in a Limo or fly cross country for a photo op. We should not cut down trees now that they have their redwood decks.

Personally I hate matches, they cause arson.

You can make fun of me all you want, but I`m guessing neither of you two have ever witnessed somebody get shot in the head.

I can understand their use as a tool, but let me just say a) seeing something like that (I think understandably) sort of alters your take on the matter, and b) as a tool, it`s good for one thing and one thing only within a city, because there sure as shit isn`t any game to hunt

Maybe those two gents haven't, but my brother died at my feet from a gun shot. You have a right to your opinion, but nobody will convince me otherwise - guns don't kill people, people kill people.

As for the movie, the wife and I saw it last night. Great flick. I did catch the military 110 in the background. When the 110 scene was over my wife commented to me how nice those trucks are and it's such a shame we can't get them here in the states. (one of the many reasons I love her).

I thought Daniel Craig did a great job and look forward to a long stretch with him as 007.

And one last thing, that Astin Martin was sooo sweet. What a ride.

I`m sorry to hear that. Let me reiterate though that in my first post I did say "I don`t believe in condemning those that are for them, but I have my reasons for not liking guns". By no means am I saying i`m completely "anti gun", dislike, yes, but I believe that they have their time, place, and use. I just don`t like how they are abused (which I have seen all too much of, but I`d rather not get into that)... and I don`t like sarcastic responses about inanimate objects and matches

Good for self defense, good as a deterant against crime, some people collect them for different reasons, some people use them for the sport of targer shooting. I have seen people burned to death, hit by trains while crossing the tracks in a car, drowned and lying dead on the street and I still use gasoline, drive a car and swim. When you dial 911 the police often can't get there in time. It's OK with me if you don't like guns but what would you do if you HAD to defend yourself against someone commiting a crime in your house who intends to leave no witnesses.

Hey, you guys are talking about acting and entertainment right? The only requirement an actor has to be in movies, is too be a good actor. WTF does the actor's personal point of view on weapons have anything to do with the role he has in a movie? I guess Anthony Hopkins should be criticized for not believing in serial killing or cannibalism? Lets get real here, we're talking about movies..

yeah I will tell you this, it's such a good feeling when you leave the movie and you drive out of the parking lot with everyone looking at you in your Defender. though its not a 110 like in the movie, its still great to see peoples reactions.

also, I was hoping somehow or someway there was a metal briefcase filled with money in the back!

I counted 3 black defenders, but I don't think the terrain was "hardcore', just a wet dirt track. Its too bad we didn't see more of them, but at least they weren't destroyed like ahem.... some of the other cars. Overall I thought the movie was alright, I thought it was a little on the low end of the budget for a Bond flick but it was alright. a
