current total is close to $2000.

Nicholas is in UVA Hospital with pneumonia. We went to see him tonight and spent a long time talking to his parents. They have seen the paypal donations and are over whelmed by the generosity. They are trying to think of a way to say thankyou to everyone. I will try and figure out if the best thing is to fix the van or replace when I talk to them tomorrow. If replacement is the best route then I might try and expand a little more and speak to a local car dealer. Other wise I think repair sounds like the best idea and I think there are numerous people that are more than capable of helping out. There is going to be a raffle for a very nice hunting rifle soon. I would have had that done tonight, but I have had too much going on to figure out the details yet.

Here is a pic taken tonight. He is trying his best smile. No matter how bad he hurts he always gets a smile out for the camera.

It's up to $2,260. Raffle thread should be up in a few minutes.

just over $2,600 but, Paypal has locked the account. Not sure what the problem is as they won't tell me and want me to tell them what i'm going to do to fix the issue first. I think it was probably the raffle. I'll deal with it tomorrow and update...

Yes, if someone puts on the description anything more than KARMA ( under gift - so no fees ) they will lock it as they do not like raffles and want their fees, and if the word GUN it is mentioned it is over as paypal is part of the Anti's.

Maybe specify in the Gun Raffle that no mention of anything but KARMA shall be placed in the payment

Ok, it's the raffle and it is canceled until further notice. The funds are now available so i'm going to get nicholas' mother to hurry up and link her bank account or request a check just incase they change their mind. Paypal says that if I do it again then the account will not be available. They also say they were responding to a complaint in regards to the firearm involved. So it would appear someone that may not like me personally filed the complaint, which sucks.

I am going to explore options to cut paypal out of the mix and will update when I know. We are also getting all the info together so we can purchase an engine for Nicholas' mother's van. I should know more tonight.

no surprise that the complaint links back to discoweb. Incredible, given what you are trying to do for a sick kid and impoverished family.

Things are coming together to get the van fixed. Someone has offered to donate the engine and the van will be hauled up to Penn to get fixed. This has all been amazing and I can't believe how much we raised in such a short amount of time. A good bit of the money will be able to be used to pay for household things that they need. PayPal has been great with the situation as well. They had asked for tax info and financial records of a charity in order to allow donations and had put the account on hold. I responded to their request with a description of what's going on with the family and my intentions as well as links to the threads on Discoweb and D90 and I got a very nice reply wishing them good luck and telling me what I was doing was amazing. They took the hold off and upgraded the account to charity/non proffit status. I just can't do anymore raffles. Thanks everyone and keep the family in your toughts and prayers. Donations can still be made to help with daily stuff and doctor visits.

Nicholas' Mother gave me this to pass on to all of you that helped. The van is back in VA from PA, but we are still figuring out a few issues with it. I'm not that worried about it and I think it will all get figured out. If anyone still wants to help out PayPal is still there. hope4nicholaswilliams@gmail.com.

This family can't get a break! Nicholas' dad, Kelly, was in a serious car accident early Thursday morning. He veered off the road, rolled over, and hit a tree. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was partially ejected through the driver's side window when the vehicle rolled and was crushed between the vehicle and the road. The extrication took nearly an hour and he was flown to UVA medical center. He suffered serious head and chest injurys as well as a severly broken ankle caused when the firewall and engine was pushed into the passenger compartment. His wife called me first and was crying so hard she couldn't breath. Apparently when the State Trooper came to the house all he would tell her is that Kelly was alive when he left the scene, but she needed to get to the hospital as quick as possible. My wife and I left work and went to the hospital also. He was awake and talking when I got there, but has been going in and out of conciousness since. There is pressure on the brain which is causing severe vertigo everytime he moves. He is currently admitted to the trauma floor at UVA. I stopped to see him before coming home and they have him knocked out to avoid the vertigo symtoms. While he should have been wearing his seatbelt I think that the engine coming into the passenger area would have caused severe injury so it was a lose lose either way. Please keep this family in your thoughts and prayers.

Holey cheeses! Been there, done that, except it was on a Norton Commando. Never underestimate the power of healing.

Yeah, always wear your seatbelt, i've seen to many people dead outside of the car in my time as a fire fighter and now as police officer. I don't think it would have made much difference in this case though. He would have been bad off if he had stayed in the car.
