Need help with a disco problem

Well I sold the D90 and picked up something a little more civilized.
I'm a new disco owner, a rust free '98 with about 86,000 miles and was pretty happy till I just filled the tank. I got to about 20 gallons and the filler started to make that sound like the tank was getting full and about to auto-stop but didn't, and gas started pouring out from under the truck, near the passenger side. I live about 2 blocks from the gas station, so I chanced it and drove home. The fuel gage took the whole 3-4 min to get to full.
There's no rust under this truck, its been a southwest truck for life. Anyone have any ideas? filler neck or some sort of hose to the tank, maybe?
Thanks for any help.

That's one of the great things about a disco, you can see the whole filler hose from under the car, take a look!

Well thats a good point. So the filler neck and tube it look pretty intact and dry. The most dependent portion of the skid tank is still a little wet, and I cant feel any defects or wetness over the parts of the top of the tank I can feel. I guess I'm looking at dropping the tank? It looks so clean from the underside.....

If it didn't auto stop are you sure it wasn't coming out of the top of the filler?

No I'm not, that's another good point. Maybe I'll try filling with a jerry can and watch under the truck for leaks.

The filler vent can be finicky depending on age and the temperature. Search on Dweb as it's a fairly common problem that it gets stopped due to clogging causing it to prematurely cut off filling. I had a Disco in Texas and whenever it was close to 100 deg outside this would happen. Moved from Texas heat and the problem was solved. It didn't cut off once while filling when it was going on and gas went everywhere.

Turns out the fuel pump wasn't screwed into the tank where it mounts. Seems like that could have been bad....
