Need help in Rexburg Idaho

So my son started BYU. He drove his NAS 90 Defender for hundreds of miles and not problems.
Now it wont start and I have gone over several scenarios by phone with him. Lots of battery, has gas, turns over but will not fire. Could be Distributor....

Any locals mind dropping by to help my boyo for me? Alternate is taking to a stealership and I would rather not go that route.

How is the ground cable? Check the entire thing. The connection from the frame to the tranny can go bad and make the truck act like the battery is dead or you have a bad starter/ignition. But also check into the Birmabrightbrotherhood. I'm sure there is someone close by that can lend a hand.

Mark is it a 14Cux or a 97 ODB II?

On my 14CUX it would get a condition where the fuel pump wouldn't prime if I stalled out ... it would clear if the truck stood for a while. I eventually discovered I could 'flick' it into life using a ECUmate.

Also worth checking is the roll over cut out ...

1995 so has the 14cux.
Grounding is fine. There is plenty of battery and cranking power. I could hear it on the phone. It figures that it was running great all summer and as soon as its away from here and the shop its playing him up.

I was only wondering if anyone lived nearby who could run over and have a look. No Biggee. I will have him get it to a shop. Thank you.

Cranks, no start, could be in order of likelihood:
Fuel pump or related electrics, Ignition amplifier module.
Check fuel pump fuse, relay and pump. Also check that white wire is on the coil. That is the wire that sends timing signal to ECU.
A bad ignition module will throw all sorts of signals that it's going to die, so sudden loss of start is usually fuel pump related.

I would have killed to have a defender (or even a disco) when I was at Ricks College. There weren't many shops in town I would trust with a newer rover. A 95 and older isn't too complicated though.

If not getting spark, I'd think amplifier or coil. There are tests in the manuals for the Lucas ignition system. Mostly you just need a multi meter to test the components.

I lived in Teton Valley for 3 years; there are 2 decent mechanics in that valley. There is a rover mechanic in Jackson Hole. I know of 1 general shop in Idaho Falls.

If he needs to get back to school and drop it off at a mechanic for work, there is a shuttle between Rexburg and Provo. Don't recall the cost; but IF to SLC was only $30/one-way. They run a few times a day.

If he gets it back to Provo, there was a trustworthy shop in Orem. Once, they charged me less than quote because they didn't need to do everything they thought.

If no luck locally, ill be passing through with trailer end of this week or beginning of next to SLC and could drop at Great Basin Rovers or wherever. I've had no luck any closer to home w knowledgable 90 mech when oddball stuff came up. Daughter just transferred from Rexburg to So Cal for school with her 90 so I feel your frustration when away.
