Need help importing Rover from Bahrain

So here goes the story:

I am in the Navy, and my friend who is based in Bahrain (also in the Navy) would like to import his 1986 Defender 110 to the US. Once it is here, I will be buying it from him. He is pretty limited on internet and phone calls to the states, as you might guess, so I am trying to make the arrangements for him.

Pickup can be anywhere from VA to MA really. He is from CT, and I live in RI (sometimes in NH), but I have family in Philly and Cherry Hill, NJ. So it can be registered in CT, RI, or NH.

He is transferring from Bahrain to Italy on May 26th, and I go back out to sea on April 12th, so I have a bit of a short timeline to get everything setup.

I have sent e-mails to all the listed importers from the NTSA site that are located in PA, MA, and ME. Because it is older than 25 years it should be easy-ish, but I really need to get this whole thing moving.

If you think you can help, please let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Just talk to Doug Crowther (Dividing Creek Import) and let him do the whole thing for you. It will be easier and you'll be happier if you just write checks.

X2 on Doug. While I imported my own a few years ago, it would have been way easier to have had Doug do it.

On this note: paging Doug C - do you offer "inspections" of trucks in the UK? Do you have people scattered around who you trust? I am interested in a truck across the pond and while it would be fun to hop a plane over there and check it myself, being away all winter in New Zealand already and recently home I think the wifey would kill me.

Depends-UK is a big place. Shoot me an email through my site with a link or just and email and I'll call you to discuss.
