I would ask for the VIN before doing anything, at 12,000 UK is about what $20,000.

12,000.00 GBP United Kingdom Pounds = 21,321.09 USD United States Dollars as of today

I am not going to buy it but I just thought it was intresting

And now that you can import 1997's with the proper VIN it was even more intresting

http://www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/rules/...LIG010906.html

Would have to ask about teh VIN for sure

$21K for a red wagon ain't bad, even with the shipping.

Maybe I should post my truck up for sale over there...

This is interesting.

http://dms.dot.gov/search/document.c...docketid=17022

This document announces a decision by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that certain 1997 Land Rover Defender 90 multi-purpose passenger vehicles (MPVs) that were not originally manufactured to comply with all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards (FMVSS) are eligible for importation into the United States because they are substantially similar to vehicles originally manufactured for importation into and sale in the United States and that were certified by their manufacturer as complying with the safety standards (the U.S. certified version of the 1997 Land Rover Defender 90 MPV), and they are capable of being readily altered to conform to the standards. DATES: This decision was effective March 18, 2004.

So does that mean all you have to do is slap a cage on it and its importable?

Does it have to be the approved NAS cage that came with the 1997 truck?

Who approves that it conforms to standards?
