NAS 110 registry

After talking with JimC I have decided to take on the task of taking the NAS 110 registry to the next level. JimC has done a great job so far and I will be expanding on his wonderful work, and the work of others.
My vision for the NAS 110 registry is much like that of the work done by those who work with Shelby Mustangs and their record keeping and tracking of Shelby cars. It will also be a place to get the unique technical information about the NAS 110s (thing like the HVAC system, unique wiring, etc) and for owners to contact other owners if they desire it. The site will be for NAS 110 owners and fans, and those doing research about a potential purchase of a NAS 110. I hope that with data provided by ECR, JimC and others that it will become a way to track the history of each NAS 110.
For NAS 110 owners the site will be as private or public as you want it to be. If you just want a photo of your NAS 110 posted and everything kept private great. If you want all your contact information shown, no problem.
The site will not be part of ECR and no sales or marketing of ECR will take place on the site. There may be a for sale section, but it would be open to anyone selling a NAS 110 (dealers and private sales). I hope it will become the place to buy and sell NAS 110s for everyone.

So having said that... If you know of a NAS 110. Send me a picture(s) of it and the mileage on it if you can get it.

If you own a NAS 110 send me your information and some photos of your 110 for the page that will be dedicated to your NAS 110.

My email:
info@eastcoastrover.com

All the information will be kept private if that is what you desire and all license plates will be photoshop'd out before any images are posted.

There will no fees associated with anything on the site.

I hope this meets with everyones approval and if you have suggestions I am all ears.

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,
Do you envision this site as something that the owners can update and manage the vehicle data or one of those things where emails are sent to request changes/updates?

At this stage, with my limited web knowledge, content would be changed by a site moderator. That could change or be expanded down the line.

My first goal is to try and locate each NAS 110 and get a picture of it.
The next goal would be to catalog the condition, miles and rough location (region) of the found 110s.

At first I really want to be about sharing all the information I have collected about NAS 110s and tracking these trucks. If down the road it can expand into a more "social" site for NAS 110s that is fine too, but there are already some fine social Defender sites going... like this one.

Other than the few goals listed above I have no set plan. I'm open to what people want it to be.

The only thing I don't want it to be is a way for people to track down owners of NAS 110s and hassle them about selling. That is why information will be as private or as public as owners want it.

Yes, all NAS 110s.
Location does not matter. In fact ones outside the US are cool stories to tell.

Some things I would be interested would be:

1. The ability to seach, rather than just browse. Possible search possibilities could be: location, condition (original vs restored) engine (3.9, 4.0, 4.2, 4.6, 200, 300, TDx, LTx, other, etc), trans (LT77, R380, ZF, etc), VIN, LR Plate No. (would need to including LRNA & Canadian), Sale Status (for sale or not), color, updated date (show me listings updated in the last x number of days, or between this range)

2. Ability to "watch" a specific vehicle and be notified of any change in status or update. This would apply to updated photos, information, ownership or sale status. I imagine that RSS would be the easiest way to pull this off.

3. Ability to be alerted of new vehicle additions. Again, RSS.

4. Ability to add high resolution photos.

5. Owner history

6. Ability to attach documents/files (not just photos) to a vehicle. This would cover things like carfax reports or other history and could potentially expand to be an online document history for a particular vehicle.

7. Vehicle history linking. I dont know if I will be able to effectively describe this, but If I own 302/500 and I put whatever history out there for that 110, and someday that vehicle changes hands. New owner may not wish to either participate in the registry, or perhaps share fewer details. I think that it is important that people using the registry be able to see my history for 302 in addition to whatever details the current owner shares.

I am sure a few more ideas may come up, but this is what immediately comes to mind. I agree that there is no need to create a board to overlap this one as there are not that many things unique to the 110 and fragmenting the user population would just create more work.

Thanks for the ideas.
I like them all and in time I think most can be added.
The goal is a history of each vehicle. That would include mods, restorations, engine changes, etc etc.

Most NAS 110 owners do not keep up with things like registries, so keeping track of a 110s status might be tough. So far there are only about 100 accounted for out of the 500 or so, so there is a long road ahead.

Don't worry about the "log in".
That set up will not be used once I take over the site.

It will come back once some data gets put up, but for now just send information to my email address.

Thanks,
Mike

the DNS registration place I used is blocked from over here in AF. I'll try to find a work around to get the domain reassigned to you sooner than next month.

I never got much done with the site, partly because I just didn't have the time to spend figuring out drupal. Most of my effort went into the simple spreadsheet which I posted here but haven't updated in forever.

I'm a bad registry keeper.

I'm still collecting data and plan to put it together over the winter when I have some time.
For now if you have images or know the miles on a NAS 110 send it to me.

If you want to check the history of a truck email me and I'll tell you if I have any data on it.

It will not be on JimC's old domain name. It will likely be a section of the ECR site's free information section.

I'd work on it harder, but right now there are not enough pictures or data to make it something interesting to see. Only a couple people ever sent me pictures and data.

I never had e wherewithal to do the "NAS 110 Market Letter" like I always intended. Not being an industry insider made it hard to understand what all my data inputs would be. I understand Keith Martin is an LR owner/lover, so maybe if you reached out to him Mike, he might have some insight. My original intent was to assemble a guide to originality and provide useful/interesting stats. I started running Autocheck reports on all the NAS 110 VINs and got to 250 before they sent me a cease and desist notice.

My dream is still alive, but I completely lack time and resources to see it through right now.
