Mysterious self-inflating lumbar support- LR3

Okay, this is an odd one. The power lumbar on our LR3 mysteriously inflates all on its own. Seems like every time I get in the truck it is completely inflated. I deflate it and then, next time I go to drive it, it's pumped-up again.

I don't hear the pump running and the battery does not drain between driving so I'm a bit puzzled over how this is happening. Any my wife swears she is not conducting a cruel psycholgical torture test on me.

I could disconnect the power to stop it but I would prefer to find the root cause and still be able to have the ability to adjust as needed.

Thoughts? Ideas?

Cheers,

CARL

Do you use different keys? The seat memory could be saved to one key and not the other.

Now that's a good point.. It just may be that the programming got added to the key inadvertently once when the headrest was inflated.. And now whenever you use the remote on that key the seat sets itself to that preprogrammed position..good one jimmy...

I did think about the key memory thing but my truck does not have the memory seat functions so I didn't think this could be it. And in reading the owners manual, it mentions seat position memory but not anything about lumbar memory.

That said, it's a Land Rover so anything is possible. Perhaps it was programmed in some strange way at the dealer or is a mis-build.

I will try the other key and see if there is any difference.

Cheers,

I've noticed that mine go up and down if the barometric pressure has changed over night. But this does not sound like what you are experiencing. I'd think the key memory, or an error with the key memory is causing it.

My next guess was going to be a defective seat memory ECU, but if you don't have memory seats, I doubt that is the cause. I'll have a look at a wiring diagram and see what I can find, maybe there is a bad relay or something.
