My LS Engine just turned 350K!

Its not in a Rover but relevant to discussions on this forum none the less. I have literally done nothing to this engine other than change the oil since it rolled off the lot in 2003 (2002 Chevy Suburban). It really says a lot about the LS - and its still running strong. I did have to rebuild the transmission back in its youth at about 250K. But this engine wont quit no matter how much I neglect it.
I guessing that my Rover V8 won't make 350K without 3 or 4 rebuilds.

The trick to a LR engine, is never letting it EVER overheat, and even then it means, not going past the middle mark on the temperature gauge. Ive had a few 3.5 V8 in my short lifetime, and all though none of them were past 250 Km's, sticking to above rule hasn't given me anything to gripe about.

Regarding, the LS motor, your absolutely spot on. My DD is a Yukon as well and always running strong!

Wow, 350K! Excellent. We recently sold our 02 Burban with 255K and did nothing but oil/filter changes. It got 16mpg for 14 years, rain or shine. I have 160 on my 4.0 GEMS and it is still getting 15mpg and no signs of overheating. I've got a CEL I need to look into though. Probably an O2 out.

A good friend of mine has over 260k on his '95 Range Rover.
Head gaskets we're done once over 10 years ago.
That's it.

Yeah I drive way too much. Especially considering this is of our three cars. Although I drive this one for work a lot.
The question now is how safe it is to keep driving long highway trips. I sort of feel like I need to drive it till it dies. I owe it to a car that has given up 350K.
