Do they have logging roads in KS?

Not sure why I didn't think of this sooner but we have a bunch of backup batteries so I plugged one in while parked in the garage over night. Full charge this morning without removing the GPS unit. One more win for the wireless unit.

Always good never to post your vacation pics while you're on vacation or advertise it via social media. Wait until you get back if you must. Not saying this happened in his case.

I’m sorry to hear about your loss. To prevent it in the future, I think a combination of physical deterrents, especially ones thieves aren’t used to in the US, are probably the best defense. Such as a Disklok steering wheel lock, a gear stick lock, a column lock, an anti ram raid post, and a pedal lock box. I think it would be best to have a pedal lock box that covers the throttle pedal as well since a talented thief could still drive without the clutch and brake pedals. Also make sure the starter is disabled via a hidden switch or alarm system. A hidden GPS tracker or an old iPhone is a good idea too, but like others have pointed out professional thieves often carry a jammer. I looked on a jammer store site and the best seller is a LoJack jammer.

A few facts about the Aspenta system. First, it's only 2G compliant. Second, it only reports location every 60 seconds upon movement of the device and when stationary for more than 2 minutes, the device will go to sleep until it is moved again. You're better off using an old iPhone that's hardwired. Simply turn on the Find My Friends and Find My iPhone feature and your done. With cell phones plans what they are today, you can add it as an additional line for pretty cheap if you consider the constant tracking and 4G benefits it's a good deal.

My D90 was borrowed

Condolences to OP for your loss.

Another option is TrackmateGPS. Hardware is $70, monthly plans start at $9.

Uses both GPS and GSM antennae, geo-fencing capabilities, speed alerts, and a remote fuel shutoff capability. Reports location between 3-60 secs depending on plan and doesn't sleep.

Unit is hardwired for power with an internal backup battery in case of main battery disconnect. My truck starts up just fine after leaving it sit for several weeks.

Sorry to hear of the theft! I have always worried about someone stealing my truck, particularly when I drive into downtown Chicago. Because of my concern I use a personal boot and a Ravelco immobilizer. Ravelco - Competition Page

I think it was a great investment and I have much less concern where I park.
