Munds Auto?

So I was talking to a guy about his Defender that he has on Cars.com. It seems nice for a good price but the emails just don't seem right. The truck is in new York but he is in Florida with his wife who needs a liver transplant. He brings that up right away which makes me skeptical. Anyway, he wants to use an internet car sales 3rd party called Munds Auto. The website is mundsauto.com.

This all seems super fishy to me so not going further with it but just wondered if anyone here has experience with Munds Auto. Says they hold money while you test the car for 4 days to decide if you want it. If not you get your money back, if so they send to seller.

The truck in question is here: http://www.cars.com/go/search/detail...5&aff=national

Here is the VIN for the truck if anyone wants to check, SALDV2244VA117105

Ha. No. Has the seller heard of PayPal?

Actually, no joke I know that truck now that I looked at your link. I know where it's parked, too.

that truck originally popped up for sale in Virginia Beach on ebay in 2008 or 2009 initially asking low $40s. Some months later, it made it into the sightings section of this site having moved up to NYC.

Yeah, would be changing the wheels if it came into my possession!

Seems he has a Toyota tundra on Cars.com that looks really nice for sale for what seems to be a good price...but it is in Minnesota. Same email, different phone number, slightly shady?

Doubtful. Remember, you can run these on your own, so save the link and use for the future. AutoCheck shows 35k miles in 2007.

He parks it a few blocks south of Manhattan Euro Parts

Sounds like a strange deal. I think Munds auto is shipping broker that has incorporated the payment/title transfer along with shipping into one big eggroll. I would be apprehensive about the costs involved and the buyers ability to negotiate them.
Also, the seller is either lieing or painfully unaware of his own vehicle when he stated the mileage. Either of those two possibilities is not good.
Unless you really love this particular truck, I would wait to find one owned by an enthusiast who knows and cares for his Defender.

Seems way too fishy to me, would be a good deal if it was true! But the autocheck says it has been in Florida it whole life but everyone here is seeing it in New York. Weird stuff

It's very common to have cars registered in FL and stored elsewhere if you have multiple residences, and state FL as your primary for tax purposes. I see it all the time, so that part isn't really a stretch. I would also think it's definitely cheaper to insure down there than up here.

This is Barrister Sambumba Nogoodish , I represent Dear Sir Kenneth.

Please forward me the new low price of $ 25,000 via multiple low denomination Western Union Vouchers

Once I receive them I will instruct the Munds to Release the Vehicle to you, you have 10 years to evaluate your purchase , if you are not satisfied, you can tell Munds to come pick up the vehicle and I will mail you back your Vouchers

Please note the transaction includes shipping cost anywhere in the USA.

I am now in Florida supporting Mr Kenneth, the vehicle is in New York

Thank you

Respectfully

Sambumba Nogoodish , Barrister

I came to this site because I had a similar situation and when I Goggled it, this was the ONLY site that had ANY questions about the whole fishy situation, so thanx for validating my concerns. I was also looking on Cars.com and found a Jag that was in the too good to be true price range. When I e-mailed him, I also got a reply that his wife needed a liver transplant. That sent all the warning buzzers going off, but when he threw in that MundsAuto.com website, it made me even more skeptical. It was a flashy & nicely built web site, but their logo was essentially the same as Edmunds.com web site with the car just missing headlights on MundsAuto.com. That was last week. This week I went back to that web site and it is GONE! You get error messages. I wonder what would happen if I tried to e-mail "Ken Burns" at kenn856@gmail.com. I'm sure it would be a dead end now too.

Thanx for posting; the Internet is empowering for us "little" guys!
