Question Moving to texas...

Hi!

I'm thinking about moving from Germany to Ft Worth / TX w. my company.
Is it possible to take my 110 with me? Is it a problem to drive a '97 D110 there?

I don't want to sell my baby...

regards,

Michael

it's next to impossible to get it over here legaly, not saying it can't be done ilegaly but you run big risks if you do. And the sad part is a 93 110 wich is legal to import, costs in the $30k+ range.

I don't know what the law is now, but ten years ago I wanted to bring a 94 911 turbo from Kuwait to here and I was told that I can bring it. However, I only get keep it for two years and then it has to leave the US. Things could have changed now though. How long is your contract?

Hi Michael...
I'm german native, grew up in Ruesselsheim (Gross-Gerau).
Texas is going to be very differant.
Verkauf dein auto und kauf ein Neuen wagen wen du
nach Texas kommst.
Das ist der beste weg...und nicht so teuer.
Ich habe mein auto von Ebay gekauft.

Main deutch ist auch nicht mer so gut, I habe in den
letzten 20 jahren in Florida gewohnt LOL..

anyway, you may want to consider selling ( I know this is difficult )
but you will brake the bank by having it transported over here.
There are alot of nice 110 and 90's to be had over here

Halt die Ohren steiff & machs gut !!
Christine

I think you can get some sort of temporary tags that are good for about a year. You can't sell the vehicle and you're the only person that can drive it and you have to take it back after a year. That came up in one of the 'few' () threads that talked about importing a defender.

Hi!

Doesn't seem to be that easy......

My contract is about 3 years....

Christine, wie lange bist Du schon in den USA? Sooo schlecht ist Dein Deutsch auch nicht...
Danke für die Infos!

If it's possible to import a car for 1 Year, maybe I can re import it every year???

But Selling it will be the easiest and cheapest way...
But Defenders are relatively expensive in the US, aren't they?

You have a nice Defender.

Yes, Defenders, especially 110's are very pricey here. Low mileage 93 110s can go as much as $50K - $60K. Although you can get an average 110 in the high $30K to mid $40K.

Goodluck!
