I have heard scary things with parts of Atlanta and the water supply. I am sure you have done research on this......

Atlanta is a good place to live but the commute can be hell so you need to be selective about where you live in relation to where you work. Hoschton is northeast of the city and the ride down I-85 can get pretty jammed up as you approach Jimmy Carter Blvd and I-285. Where will you be working?

At least you'll be moving to an area with a very active Land Rover club - Solaros (www.solaros.com)

I've lived in Atlanta since 1955 and my mother is a native Atlantan so I can help answer some of your questions.

I can probably help too. My wife's boss lives in Hoschton. It's a small town, but nice.

Another local rover club is:
http://www.appalachianrovers.com/

I am not affiliated with either, but I do attend the Southern Appalachian Expedition most every year, it is a great event.

Thanks for the follow up. I work from the house so the travel time isn't too big a deal but being fairly close to things is good for the family. We're looking at Reunion and the Village at Hoschton and some others..., Gwinnett is the popular choice especially for schools but we can afford to get out a bit as to be able to afford more house.

I am really looking forward to living in an area where I can get the Rover out to play. Living in Fl really doesn’t do it for me in that regard but in the hills the possibilities are endless.

Please let me know the about Hoschton if you can. Thx. gh

I'd avoid Gwinnett - it's being overbuilt and the infrastructure is having a hard time keeping up with the growth - traffic is terrible. I live in Roswell just north of Atlanta and have an east-west commute so it's pretty good for me - a north-south commute would suck. I'm not that familiar with the Hoschton-Braselton area but if you were west of I-85 you'd have easy access to the north Georgia mountains.

With the current market you might look at trying for a place near Lake Lanier - its very low right now and prices are depressed but if the drought breaks and it ever fills back up the property values will rise signifigantly.
