Motor value ??

What is a running 3.9 go for $$ these days?
It's currently in my truck so it is still in running config. All original, 140,ooo miles.

Also, value of a 4.2, not running but mostly complete-missing a few ancillaries.
Sitting in storage.

Both are v-belts, but with time, money and a different front cover...anything is possible!

We sell rebuilt 3.9's for $2400, and rebuilt 4.2's for around 3k. Used depending on mileage and wear and tear around $500-$1000.

A lot would depend on maintenance history. If the head gaskets have not been changed and the cam/gear/chain are original at 140000, not a lot. Maybe $500.

Core value, unless someone is super desperate to have it and will pay extra.
I can't even give the one I have away.

Really?
I didn't hear of the older triple row 3.9s needing headgaskets early on.
Anyway, this one is mine since 1999 and 97,000 miles.
Why do HG, cam, TC, gears?
Waterpump replaced few years ago.

Maybe I'll pull the plugs and check the compression numbers.

A shop can get $1,500-2,500...

You and me $500 if you get lucky. IMO scrap it and get the $50 from the scrap Yard.

Ask Doug C... he's been trying to sell one from the flipped Disco for ages. (Maybe he already sold it)

I usually just scrap them. A 3.9 is pretty worthless to me.

You're ruthless.

I may be better off to get these motors to one of our parts resellers and let them sell them.

Try and get what you can for it and move on.

I was trying to damn near give mine away too. 114K miles and super nice running, no leaks (REALLY) and seems flawless. I plan to toss the 4.6 bottom end/assembly in it, a nasty cam, carb intake and a a TBI set-up on it and stuff it into a project.

Nevermind - my brain got away from me and I forgot the 3.9 has a smaller crank dia. and the 4.6 crank wont fit. Duh. Damn it. ha

So.... anyone need good a 4.6 rotating assembly/block?

There have been previous sales and the answer is not as much as you would hope.

A d90 is one vehicle that is worth more complete than it is parted out - almost the exact opposite from most any other vehicle on the road.
