I have an HK45C, it is a bit heavy for CC, but doable. Another fine choice is a 3 or 4 inch Colt, Kimber, or Springfield 1911 type. Most everyone I know goes G19 though.

I got Utah, I prefer it over florida because you don't need prints for renewals.

Also, if you like the judge (and don't mind a $5 tax stamp), try the super shorty:

Smile Carry with class

Michael D. Ullman - Builder
Mark Swanson - engraver

Caspian Stainless Steel Frame and Slide
Commander length
.40 S&W
Custom Thin Turkish Walnut Grips
Bobbed Grip
Tri-Top Slide
Extended Slide Stop and Safety
Wilson Mags
lots more.......

It is for sale so I don't carry it often. The LCP or the Kel-Tec, which Ruger pretty much ripped off, in .380 are good choices for when it is hot and you just have shorts and a T-shirt on. But I would really rather have more power.

There are more AD's with the Glock's and the XD's than most other pistols. In fact ran in to a guy today that had one in his truck with an XD just last week, put a hole in his glove box. Now he needs new passenger seat as his brother-in-law was sitting there.

Most of the time you will find me with my Taurus 850 in .357, with Chrimson Trace grips, great gun. Cheap, reliable and safe. I did tune it a bit. If I have to leave it in the truck I figure I am not out much if it is stolen. It is a little bulky but I do like it.

As to the Judge. To big to carry but cool to have around if you are going to be near snakes.

Michael

I carry a Ruger LCP with a belt clip attached during the summer, and a Glock 26 during the winter. The Ruger LCP is so small and light, I often forget I am carrying it. If I'm feeling cheeky, I'll carry my FN 5.7!

Go to the UTAH CCW website, then search for OUT OF STATE approved Instructors, call them , sometimes they do Group Classes , sometimes small groups in their office.

Take the class, get their paperwork, get printed and 4 weeks later voila

Since a Crimson Trace was mentioned above how do you guys like them ?
Was thinking of getting 1 for my Berretta 96. Gunna suck giving up the highly figured cocobolo grips but everything has its place & those are best in a presentation box.

I actually took off all my Crimson Trace grips. I found they made my shooting worse as I was relying on the red dot too much and not the sights. The bouncing red dot was very distracting. They would be good maybe for home defense in the dark, but that's it for me. Just my 2 cents.

I like the crimson trace on the lcp being it has almost no fixed sight. Depending on the gun the crimson trace will attach differently....some are integrated into the grip...the one for the LCP is just below the barrel and you can't even tell it's there. Low light/night it's great. Day light is a different story.

Follow-up Post:

here's a link to the crimson trace set up on the LCP...mine has the finger extension in addition to this pic

Lasers are great for letting you know just how badly your hand is moving while your aiming/shooting. I have a factory one on my Walther .40 P99 and I think I use it more for practicing correct grip and trigger pull then I do to actually aim with it.

Jonathan, on a side note, I noticed that you have a Blackhawk Serpa holster (from the FN sale post). I'm looking to replace some of my leather holsters and I was looking at the molded ABS - Kydex kind like the Serpa, Fobus, and Mikes. Do you use a Serpa often and if so how do you like it? Also, I have heard some people talking about having the finish on their guns scratched up by these type holsters after just a little use. Have you noticed any extra wear?

I have a CG on my 92FS, like it but I like the Lasermax internal rod on the G19 much better, easier to sight, etc
