More agreed value questions

OK so if you want to write an agreed value policy on your truck, how does one determine what a "total loss" is? Is it up to the insurance company? I can understand theft and fire doing the trick, but accident and fire can cause significant damage that can be remediated.
Can it be decided up front how this is determined?

I would assume it is when repair costs are greater than value or in your scenario agreed value. I'd suggest you have the underwriter explicitly define this in the policy.
