Not worth the time. You realize when you resort to cursing and telling a person that they are stupid instead of actually debating the issue or making your point you just look like the idiot you are.

As soon as you take it off topic to insult a person and not the issue you prove everyones' point. You can search for the Rovers Out E**t thread yourself and read it. I cut and pasted from it. I won't post the whole thing as I am sure since it was pulled there are people who don't want it up here. Hence why I blocked out part of the name to prevent it from getting cached.

Point is there have been tons of shitboxes on here and that thread you went after the buyer not the seller. Now you are going after the seller. Either way I don't care. I don't think you should be banned. I just think it is sad you have great knowledge but have no real way to articulate yourself like an adult. Maybe you should take some night classes.

I love people like you. You realize you're full of shit before you ever get started and reply back with the famous words, "not worth my time".

The same reason I cut an argument off with my two year is why this isn't worth the time. You cant reason with children. No matter how smart or right you think you are, your language makes it seem like you may have made it to junior high. Search google and post the thread if you want. I cut and pasted from it.

I have no reason to argue with you or continue. You get my vote to be on here with your tirades forever. I m planning to spend more time in my d90 and less on d90 in the new year. You are just one of many who over the last few months who have destroyed any enjoyment people got from conning here.

Perhaps the site membership should be narrowed to those who actually own Defenders!

lol, you know know nothing. If one of my cars has any rust on it I make any potential vendors aware of it, unlike some.

There you go swearing again, did you graduate high school?

It's funny, the one guy calling out D90 members and calling us "cheapfucks" is the POS D1 owner. Classic.

Please now explain why D1 is worth pennies compared to D90 even though they are basically the same car.

Because there are 80x more D1's running around vs Defenders.

Wow, some of you really need to get a life. If you are not working, or spending time with family and/or friends this time of year, you really should do some reflecting. This is a stupid website on the internet! It really should be a low priority in your life in the big scheme of things. I'm not sure why I am even bothering to post other than this post is partially directed at me.

First, let me remind you that this is a privately owned site. Always has been and always will be, and nothing has changed in that respect. You have NO rights beyond what the owner gives you so save all the free speech banter. Read the forum rules. If you don't like them, then don't come here or don't complain if you get moderated or banned. You get to use and enjoy the site for free and even read the site without an account even so what more could you ask for. But even in this thread I see people who have contributed nothing to this site in 6-7 years complaining this site has no meaningful content. LOL. Contribute or go away if you don't like it. The site is what you make it!

I love the way everyone is jumping to conclusions about things - the human mind is truly an amazing thing. I can't speak for why Andy or Chris or Jim haven't chimed in, nor will I, but I do know it's the holidays and they are busy (read above about where this site should fall into life's priorities). I will tell you that in general you are better off not joining in on these discussions than doing so, so that could be a reason, and I'll probably regret posting instead of just watching and smiling

So, I'll tell you my viewpoint and this will likely be the last you'll hear from me on it, so don't come to some conclusion that I don't care. I do care, to the extent one should about such things. And jumping to the conclusion that the others don't care because they don't post here is simply wrong too.

I am in the camp that feel Dan's behavior here is both not needed or desired, it's intentional, and does affect the while tone of the site in a negative way. It's not just restricted to the for sale section. You are totally wrong on a couple of points Dan. You certainly can express your views in a civil, non-threatening manner at the appropriate times and places but you choose not to. There is nothing that says you have the right to do this here so I'm totally fine with banning you, and if it were my call alone, then I'd ban you (and actually I don't think I can - I have never tried to ban anyone). But regardless it's not my call alone, and as you all should have noticed we don't run around making any rash decisions and over moderate in general, and we won't do this now. When everyone involved has had a chance to discuss it we'll see. But there is no crazy rush to do anything and nothing bad will come by being deliberate. This is by no means the first time the issue has come up. Dan, you are also wrong that you wouldn't say the same things *the same way* you do here in person. You can talk all the big talk you want here but this is simply not true and you know it. You'd be dead if you did.

As far as changes to the site go, here is what I see:

The site got sold a long time ago and nothing changed and no-one noticed or cared until people in this thread are trying to claim something did. In fact there have been more people able to moderate yet no change has been made in terms of how we moderate. I can't speak for the intentions of the new ownership of the site, but will tell you I go by my general rule in life about "worrying" about things - there is no need to worry, ever! If something concerns you take action, otherwise let it go. Unless something actually happens, there is no point worrying about it. We could worry about something negative happening to the site or not worry and see how it goes. If it turns bad, then voice your opinion then, or go elsewhere. I love how you think this is such a terrible thing, yet unless you were told about the sale you would never have noticed or cared. As to what may happen in the future, time will tell, but the last 6 months should at least tell you that nothing bad is going to happen in a hurry. Perhaps give Andy and Chris a chance to formally announce it and let us know what's in store for the future, and until then don't worry about it.

The only difference I see over the last few years (spanning well before the sale of the site) is Dan deciding to use this as his playground, and Barry and Neil occasionally flaring up. Barry has taken his Horsey posting to the point where I was uncomfortable with it but after discussion with the other mods we decided to let it run it's course and it did. As long as it's not affecting every thread and it's kept to things like misc chit chat it's ok. Likewise with Neil - it's usually contained to specific threads and he doesn't go needlessly baiting people in all kinds of threads. But most threads Dan gets involved in degenerate to 13 year old behaviour because he refuses to act in a civil manner. Other "sheep" see this as ok and jump in and do the same and things go to hell. Dan has also proven that he has no interest in changing his behaviour, no interest in making positive relationships with others, nor in buying a defender, so his motives for being here are questionable at best. You take that away and I think the site is quite healthy, useful and cooperative and people generally act civilly and no moderation is needed. So enough of the "this site has gone to shit" or "this site is about seeing defenders at coffee shops" talk. Go look at the list of current threads and see what's going on - plenty. Ignore the stuff that isn't productive or enjoyable. The site is what YOU make it!

Barry, you can't be serious that you are surprised that threads you derailed were derailed. Really? I understand when my dog wags it's tail and it hits the coffee table yet it doesn't realize it's doing it to itself (because she's a dog), but this is simple cause and effect here.

I don't think anything has changed on the moderation front, but I am open to feedback and criticism. At the beginning of this thread I asked and the only thing that has surfaced is that perhaps we need to have more stringent rules on the for sale threads, but to be honest I don't think any are needed. What's needed is common sense and simple human decency and civil behaviour which is no different than what is expected of you in the real world every day. Dan, you cited not being vulgar or something as being one of the only rules necessary, yet you are the most vulgar. How about trying to honor the rules and tone of the site? Others have already said all of this, and your contributions would be beneficial if you did so. I'm not asking you to say things that are not true or pretend to like anyone, but simply be civil.

And one last time, the site is what WE make of it. Thank you to those who have made constructive comments on this thread and any others - I for one appreciate it.

Happy New Year everyone!

charles

I'd put my D1 up against your Series any day. It will do better than your Series off-road even with my smaller tires. It will go faster on the Interstate than your Series. It's a quieter ride. It's a more comfortable ride. It has better parts. Everything about my D1 is better than your Series, on paper and in real life.

Okay, so what are you questioning here? I stand by everything I said.
I'm trying to say you are a pussy that talks a big game.

If you actually ever show up at a LR event where you are not ostracized or the butt of jokes, I'd love to take you up on the wheeling challenge.

Oh I am not questioning your assessments. I just wonder why in that case you jumped all over the buyer when the seller was selling the same garbage as 6.2. I would have thought you would have ripped the seller apart at the same time as the buyer. You say how the buyer got a good deal on a truck just as shitty. Even f it isn't true I just think of you as puppet for Aaron or whoever. Hell when people mocked your wedding, suddenly the admins were out. That called for admins but your crap doesn't when it violates the rules? I just hate where the board has gone. It's pathetic.

I never go to wheeling events? That's news to me.

Want to wheel title for title? When and where? You name it. Don't be a pussy, I'm serious. Put up.

What's worth more; a 1948 Series with the original engine, or a 1948 Series with a small block Chevy?

Finally, this is beginning to get interesting. This is exactly how it should be decided, on the field of battle, so to speak. This event I might even attend.
