Missing NAS Dash VIN plate

Does anyone know how I can get a new NAS Dash VIN plate? As we all know a NAS VIN is very important, and unfortunately mine was "misplaced" / "lost" during a TD5 Dash upgrade by Urban Land Cruisers. I've been told its no longer available at the shop, and can't be found.
I had heard that LRNA have on occasion issued new ones, but the Land Rover dealership that I happened to have purchased my D90 from doesn't know anything about doing that.
Any and all help would be appreciated, thanks.

I would be full hot if my VIN plate were "lost" or "misplaced." Is it still the original frame?

There is still the original stamping on the frame. (thank god...or I couldn't have passed Texas Inspection.) And keep in mind, all the dealership paperwork since I bought it from a Land Rover dealership in January of 2013.

Rumour has it that you can buy a stamped vin plate from the uk...I have heard of someone getting one for an older car and since this is the same in the uk I am sure you can get it quite cheap..

Is that UK stamped VIN plate for display through the front windshield just like in the US? I want to replace like for like if I can. Texas inspectors weren't too keen on having to check the frame VIN.

WTF is wrong with those guys in Atlanta. This is a huge problem. Telling you it has gone missing is unacceptable. For all you know if could end up on another truck and you may not find out about it for years. If it were me I'd keep an eye on carfax/similar to make sure that VIN doesn't get registered elsewhere.

More importantly why was it removed to begin with? It doesn't need to be removed for a simple dash change. Did you replace the bulkhead too?

We did not change out the bulkhead, and I did not receive a good answer (any good answer)...on why it was removed. Why it wasn't stored securely, etc etc etc.

Even if not, since he has the correct stamps you could just send him a pic of the size of the plate you want and them cut it to suit your application..with very little care you could make it look exactly the same... I may know a guy who had the number for the guy..

Double wtf. I wouldn't be able to sleep until I figured out where it went. They need to get you a VIN plate , either your original or one they have custom done just for you.

Ask these guys, they might know where to point you for your dash plate...

If you wanted to make a complaint to the authorities about it it would be very easy, but I fear this may open a can of worms you might not be happy with..

In the Corvette world, missing VIN plate means car is worthless. Non original rivets on any VIN plate seriously deflate value.

That VIN is going to show up on another truck. You can hire companies on internet to show what is going through customs. Don't know if NAS are collectable to ROW guys, but this is my bet. Christ, there are plenty of VIN to NAS# registries. This DOES keep getting more screwy.

I'd definitely get one ordered from the UK and have an engraver get it up for you, at least you didn't go full frame swap, the nightmare would've been insane.

I was just thinking that. Thank goodness a full frame swap wasn't done. That's a can of worms.

Couple things:
- if bulkhead was unchanged, is the DOT sticker still on the inside of the outer wall in the driver footwell?
-should you get a replacement VIN tag, be sure to have the authorities install it as they have seen the truck without same- this is a big deal!

Just curious...did ULC make you aware of the missing vin or did you discover it yourself?

I don't know about for Defenders, but we can get VIN plates at the dealership for other Land Rovers. For example, on a RRS or LR3 the VIN plate is a sticker on the dash board. If you replace the dash, you have to replace the VIN plate. I know of at least one that didn't have the sticker put on (never ordered) and the customer came back a year or two later. Its a bit of a hassle for the dealership to get and the last one I got took over a month to get. I won't be at work the rest of the week, so I can't check for you, but you could try calling some other dealers.

I thought I saw the rover shop or someone post up a pic of some blank ones a couple of years ago. May be worth a shot.
