Missing NAS Dash VIN plate

It'd be hard to scrape paint off a sticker and not scrape/destroy the sticker

You need one of those CSI type kits that can specially dissolve layers at a time

get the plate. then work on getting the sticker. Others have gotten them so it is do-able.

I got a new sticker a few years back from the dealer after a bulkhead replacement. I then went back last year to try to do the same for another truck with a bulkhead swap and after months of waiting they said they could not make them any more. Don't see why they can't though. I should go back ad try again

Realizing this if the sticker is glossy enough you might have some luck. Not sure the finish but a flat razor might work in the right hands

I'm of the thinking I'd just leave the sticker be for now, rather than risk destroying it. Although I'd preferred it to be easily legible, at least it's there and in tact.....preserved for the ages. Even if it's hard to read. The dealers going to try, and probably pretty hard....I was looking at another Rover today. Isn't there a vaccine for this Rover addiction?

The bad news, they were less hopeful about ordering a new DOT sticker.
I hope you are documenting all your costs so ULC can reimburse you for all your troubles. What's up with your electrical issues? Are they resolved?

Not resolved yet. The dual battery / battery management system hasn't worked from day one. I realized I added a lot of electrical to this truck, but not so much that it's rocket science. I've instructed the new shop to yank or bypass the system. I'm hoping they can wire in serial or I'll just replace the 2 optimas with one battery and have it properly wired! Yes, all costs are already being disputed with ULC. (And they are adding up fast.)

I feel bad for you, Ceyon and everybody else that are running into issues with ULC. I bought a motor from them and had one small hiccup with it. The rear main seal leaked pretty bad after installation and they paid about 75% of the cost of repair and I sprung for the rest. It shouldn't have played out that way but something was better than nothing. I had a second issue with some 5 bar that I bought and they omitted sending out the rivets that were supposed to be included. I received a shitty response and bought them locally. I hope it works out for all of you guys in the end.

OP: You'll need it more than the VIN plate if you ever sell to someone in CA. The sticker is what will enable your truck to sail right through the DMV while the rest of us shit bricks.

Theoretically I could trick out my '85 to be 100% identical to NAS spec but the door jamb sticker cannot be bought for any amount of money for a VIN that isn't supposed to have one. It's what makes 'NAS' NAS. Pretty messed for them to have just painted over it. Hope you get this fixed or get a new one made.

Yeah, this whole situation is pretty messed up! I've been keeping quiet in the hopes of resolving it personally with David. And although he has tried to a degree....it just wasn't enough and is taking too long.
The People's Republic of Kalifornia will never get my D90! God willing, I'll get it all sorted out and be buried in it!

UPDATE : I just got an email update from the Land Rover dealer, and it's not looking good for my sticker. Per the LR helpline they responded that only the following stickers could be reordered. From their email:

Good morning Michael,
Unfortunately according to LR helpline, we can’t get that label on the kick panel, the only body labels available are the emission and warning labels. Please see attached file.
If you have any other questions please don’t hesitate to call.

The emission label is the important one so if you've got that you're probably good.

Yes - great place to help with some of those lost stickers. But note they said they only do business with body/repair shops.

I just got a call from my local Land Rover Dealership, and my new dash VIN plate has apparently arrived. Along with several of the NAS stickers I ordered. Sadly the foot well sticker was not one that's available anymore. I'm planning on picking it up later today...fingers crossed!

This is still, as reported, a titanic f@&€ up on the part of Urban Land Cruisers. It is absolutely pathetic that the owner had to do the leg work to get his VIN PLATE back. Absolutely pathetic. Can I say that any more strongly? This isn't just a business having some tough times, this is a downright negligent operation.

Jim, while in principle I agree with you.....in this case once the damage was done, it was probably easier for me to get the VIN considering I bought it from a Land Rover dealership who could back up its identity.

Agreed, you're totally in the right. ULC's chance to fix this has long passed.
