Micro Cars Fairly Poorly in Crashes with Mid Size Vehicles..

Who’d have though it, huh? Well, at least now there is scientific record, the IIHS offset crashed micro cars with mid size sedans, any bets on the outcome? LOL!

P.S. -- I hope this isn't too far off topic, but I think I am still moslty rover related content, and I'm tired of hearing all the micro car drivers say how safe they are, not!

Funny, as we all know, they'll allow those tiny unsafe clown cars on the road but not a 2009 diesel Defender that gets better gas mileage than most SUVs.

Haha, we were just watching the news report in the showroom a few minutes ago. It only took the IIHS 30+ years to determine that larger, heavier vehicles do a better job of protecting their occupants...did anyone at this agency ever take a physics class?!?

I also thought it was funny that officials from Toyota, Smart & Honda are the only ones who seem to think this test is unfair and unlikely in the real world. I mean really, how many people crash into inanimate, movable objects? Also, this push for 55 to increase fuel economy is stupid. There is no magical speed that is most economical for every vehicle. Fuel economy is completely dependent on the vehicle's drag coefficient, weight, engine and gearing. Many new vehicles will return better economy at speeds in excess of 55mph.

sure... and my bike gets the best mpg somewhere over 120 mph... (the cop didn't seem to care about the environment when I tried explaining this to him though)

Julian- the H2 looks bad, but the passenger compartment is in pretty good shape. I bet the occupents walked away. Smart car, etc. occupents would be dead or seriously injured.
