Mercedes G 4x4

I know, it's not a Land Rover Defender. But as a Defender owner, and a 2014 G550 owner, I had to post this. This is G wagen porn for those who appreciate real off road capability. It is the very likely to roll to production 2 axle version of the outrageous G 6x6.

Let me know what you think of the photo gallery.

It's just awesome that they have the audacity and the resources to make that thing. I hope they bring it to (the U.S.) market!

I hear you both on the wheel arches. My wife and I said the same thing. Looks too jeep like. But everything else is pretty darn cool. And with 18" of ground clearance and standard G class triple lockers it should go pretty much anywhere.

I was reading G class sales are the highest ever and MB gave the team a sizable budget to come up with limited editions like this and others to introduce to multiple markets.

My wife and I each bought new G classes last year so we are pretty G obsessed in this house.

But for cool factor, my Defender turns more heads.

I don't know why MB had to add that "4x4" decal. While it can be easily removed, having it cheapens an otherwise very capable machine IMHO. They might as well add the obligatory "Off-Road Performance" next to it.

Although I could be down with a "6x6" decal on the other one. 😎

I will always love Gs. I wonder what the spare tire situation is?

I love them, perhaps one day I might have one.

There is a guy here in town that has several and I always admire them.

I have a G63 and I love it. But my issue with it has always been that it's this amazingly capable machine with the wimpiest wheel and tire combo anyone could put on a truck.

The G in this thread is exactly what I would want. The problem is, the G I have already won't fit into most parking garages. My 110 doesn't fit either. How do you function with a car that has lift like this unless you just live in the country?

Build a bigger garage.. when building a new house, I made sure the garage fit the 110... with roof rack.

Never mind, just saw that you meant a parking garage.. have a different daily driver like me. ha

You can't go anywhere in Atlanta if you can't use a parking garage. Forget it. No point in owning it.

Move out of Atlanta, best thing I've ever done.

My office is still there, but I only go once a month or so........thankfully, we have a surface lot which is rare for buckhead.

In Buckhead,..... Grocery store - Parking deck. Gym - Parking Deck. Restaurants - Parking Deck. etc. etc.

I like Atlanta. It's a lot of bank for the buck. My company i based in Atlanta. I'll be there for a while.
