I've owned a couple G's. The W460 and W461's are the best, especially with rear ambulance doors. This this is pretty silly though.

That's awesome, but it made me sad and angry at f-ing TaTa! The G continues to develop and refine as the Defender had. But the G will live on and not in name only! Defenders?

Edit: I remember when MB hinted at ending the G in the early/mid 2000's. People were up in arms. Did MB really think that the GL would fill the void?

That isn't a production G. It's a custom job, really no different from putting mog portals on a D.

quite honestly I don't see what the hullabaloo is about Gwagens. I think they look great, but I have never seen them used for anything than mild off-roading. And their aftermarket is pretty limited.

But it seems it's teaching production level if you check online.
When I owned a G the forums all cried about the lack of aftermarket parts for them, but quite honestly what more could you want? Also not many people are comfortable climbing boulders with a $100+k vehicle.

As an owner of two of them I will say they are pretty awesome. Agree most never really go off-road, although mine has with all lockers on, but what is really awesome about them is their build quality and solid feel. They are literally as solid as a vault door. If you have ever closed the door of a G or driven one you will know what I mean. And they are built to last. All that and a nice amount of luxury surrounding you makes for a great combination.

My wife and I both have 2014's (her's is the white) and even my 18 month old daughter got one for christmas like Daddy's.

Tim Golden is doing customs ones. Stuff like putting 24 valve Cummins in them, portal axles, and Hutchinson bead locks.
His text message pictures have me tempted to go to the other side. Cant build them fast enough, he has 7 employee's now.

Says he will do 20-22 this year but ramping up to do about thirty next year

Those wheel arches are there to make room for the added portal axles, hence why are so wide.
On my opinion, those axles are what is going to sell that car!

This seems an affordable way to get into a G wagon.
