So I have been a member on this great board for 5 years. It amazes me the knowledge and diversity of the members of this board. The off-topic discussions are intelligent and mature. Although I rarely get involved, I always gain new insight into something I thought I understood well.

Topics like "any watch people here", or "what are you grilling tonight", or "what dress shoes to buy" makes me wonder what do these people do and how can they have such expensive tastes? So besides Horsey's cankles, I have no idea what people look like or what they do for work to support this incredible lifestyle.

So I will start. Most know me here from the rebuild of my 1983 110. Here is my mug:

I graduated from the University of Florida with a BS in engineering (Biomedical). I am now a physician in Orlando.

No...I cannot afford any of the watches you guys wear. I have a $20 watch from Target
No...I do not have young beautiful women throwing themselves at me at the bars
No... I don't save the day with some miraculous epiphany while staring into my coffee in my office. In fact, I never save the day.
No...my life is not as glamorous as the TV shows make it out to be. I see chest pains and bung-holes all day, literally assholes. It is ridiculous how many people have pain in their rectums.
No..I am not a proctologist but I did sleep in a Holiday Inn once

Pigs are disgusting nasty animals that only taste good after being cooked in a skillet! We do fancy our cows down here though!

Mmmmm bacon.

I am a architect working for Vandelay Industries. Or I'm a marine biologist. Nope, definitely a hand model.

I am an astrophysicist applying my education and skills pursuant to my pecuniary interests in Land Rover Defenders despite societal pressures to the contrary.

I agree that publishing ones personal details here on a site where many choose to hide behind pseudonym names (due to some prior moral turpitude ?) may not be wise.

I guess I am just old school. I believe in a good handshake and introducing myself to strangers. I don't see any harm in it. I find it funny people act one way when it's face-to-face, but then hide behind the keyboard when it comes to online forums. Is it so they can say things without worry or accountability? Is showing your face with what you say or type so difficult to do these days? What is this world coming to? No one is asking for your banking account number or what you do behind closed doors. Just wanted to be friendly and introduce myself, and put a face to a name. Every time I see Horsey's post I see cankles--yikes! If people on this great forum, the same people that pitched together for members like Brad Harris and Kent aka 85Red110, don't want to shake my hand, that is fine. I will still extend mine

I think the PC term is retirarded. I aspire to be like Jeff but until then I marvel at how many of us waste our time and money on land rovers. I am not a watch guy and avoid assholes as much as possible.

The best way to put faces with names is to go to events. ROAV is an excellent club with great events. Old North State and CROC put on great events at Uwharrie NF. Throw the wife and kids in that bad ass truck of yours and GO!

I think I can speak for most of us when I say we would all shake your hand (...pass the purell please...lol) however as I write this there are 37 members and 271 non members on this site...it doesn't take much speculation as to how your information could be mis-used or folks harassed in one way or another...I have met quite a few of the members here and enjoyed all of their company- say one! lol...

Nice to meet you Forrest.
I work on teeth for my day job.

I've known some of these Rover guys since my 1st MAR in 2001.
I've known Chris von C(who took over D90 and used to own this interweb until about 2 years ago...) since '03.
Others have come and gone.
I'm still hanging around...more lately than I used to...
