McQueen

The "King of Cool" theme looks as cool on my buddy's LeMon's E30 as it does on Mike's avatar. Note the two finger salute on the rear deck.

The lemons looks like a ton of fun. Is it hard to get into these days (like too many entrants)? I assume he is doing the one at Summit Point in June?

Anyone else in NOVA interested in doing this?

Very cool! I started building up an 03 cavalier I got for free (was going to be the "Cav-A-Queer")

Had it all stripped down, but couldn't pony up the 5k in safety equipment on a POS car.

If anyone wants it for a starter I have it sitting in a lot, Totally Stripped out.

They lost one driver. Being recruited as the replacement now. . Hence why it showed up in my driveway to see if i could fit into to the seat while not wrapping myself around a tree on these back roads. They do about 6 races/year. Yes to Summit Point and the first of the season is in NC this march.

Yes but its an 88" looks like it from that angle and the 109 stationwagon had a rear door, the 88 was available either with a rear door or a tail gate with a hinge top.

the main give away is the location of the bulkhead near the bench seats.

Yes, some races fill up and turn teams away. The more creative you are with theme of the car & team, the story of the build -- and they hold you to that $500 value (exception being safety eqp't, brakes, seat, cage, etc.) -- and most importantly, the car selection itself, the better chance of being selected. E30 BMWs are a dime a dozen, so I wouldn't there. But built right, they are a top 5 car, even this auto 325e. Yes, auto with the low compression stroker motor.

Well, I'd be interested in doing a rover entry, which I assume would be relatively unique, but I'm not sure anything fits the bill. And I don't mean fits the bill like I think I'll win or even do well, but something that stock weighed under 4200lbs and could be purchased cheap enough, even after selling off the interior and glass and anything else of value that is not needed to race. I think a disco 1 was a bit heavier than that.

And then it's a pretty serious commitment both time wise and financially. I figure you have to get at least 4 guys willing to shell out 1,500 to 2,000 to play this game. But I'd do it if there was a rover that could work and 3 or more others would join me.

You could try to source a rover 3500 or a sterling to keep it "rover"

Good idea, but this is probably even more rare and expensive. The only "cheap" option I can think of is a disco1.

Of course if others are game I'd go for another brand/vehicle, but I'd hate to put a lot of effort into a plain jane entry and get denied.

A Land Rover on the track.... that would win in spades on the uniqueness front. Looks to have been tried before:
