Hey, it was a good run. One good thing, if you really wanted to, you could experience most all "defender" configurations in your lifetime without unlimited funds. Just a thought .....

The King is dead……..Long live the King!

A buddy of mine forwarded a picture from 1976……my first Series One. A 1949 80" outside a pub after a day off-road.

I thought it touching that the last configuration completed a full circle back to the beginning.

Be sure to take note of the registration plate on the last Defender, H166 HUE.

The first production Land Rover has the registration plate HUE 166.

Interesting
Last line in the story.
"A replacement model for the Defender was being developed to be launched in December 2016, said the manufacturer."

I doubt it but it would be nice if we see what it would at least look like.

Based on the past few years of "new" models from LR I was thinking 1 new truck a year. Disco Sport was last year. New Disco this year. RR Sport and FFRR were a year apart.

Haven't felt like this since Concorde left the skies.

This must be a bitter sweet day for all of those original owners out there like yourself.

Kind of neat when your birthday coincides with this. I never thought getting into these labors of love that there would be a connection like this. Pretty cool.

What will all of those workers from the assembly line do tomorrow? I imagine that they cannot all be absorbed into other lines.

Sad day on many fronts. Wonderful run.

Move to Slovakia. LR is planning a large increase in production.

You all need to check out the other thread I started! Land Rover has officially announced that it will begin offering factory restorations!

http://www.defendersource.com/forum/...tml#post709886

It's the biggest plot twist since Darth Vader told Luke Skywalker "I am your father."!

I am surprised that they didn't have Hue waiting for Hue II at the finish line. Would have been a site seeing the first leaving the factory with the last.
