Maple Syrup Time

It's a fun mud season hobby-gone-bonkers thing to do here in Maine. We pull about 35-40 gallons a year of finished syrup. It's much like rover though in a way, simple but there is always an improvement to be made or something to fix. TDS is a nice way to kill some time out here in the sugarhouse too.

If you bottle some up let me know. Would love to see if you could ship a little bit down.

One of the best fragrances in the world. Wood smoke + the sweet smell of the syrup. Yum!
If you've never been to a sugar shack while it's boiling off the sap you're really missing out.

Second on that!
We used to make lots with my grandparents in upper Michigan. Nothing better than homemade maple syrup. If you have a jar to spare I'd be happy to compensate you for it!

That looks like a fun spring ritual. Do you tap your own trees? Is it possible (practical) to buy the sap? I don't think I have enough maple trees on my land to get any real quantity of finished product.

So neat.. thanks for posting those pictures. Looks like a relaxing way to spend a Saturday. I'd like to see the containers you put it in? I put away veggies and jams ...but have never seen syrup being done.

I sell to friends and family for the most part. I'd consider y'all in that category so if people want pints let me know. I bottle in legit plastic "Maine moose" pint bottles that have the retail seal inside. I have bottled in glass in the past but these bottles are cheap and easy.

I don't think I've ever tried real maple syrup, its pretty expensive in the specialty stores.

Wow. It's funny I have a picture of an aunt jemima bottle with the red circle around it and it crossed out (like no smoking type sign) in the sugarhouse.

Sometimes I'm ridiculous enough I travel with it to breakfast places because I can't use that fake stuff. Ruins my meal hahhahaha
