It's been a sad year here in the Snell house. We've been subsisting on Kroger "Private Selection" brand maple syrup since the Josh supply ran out. It's the best we can get in this dinky town and it's not good.

With no syrup in my hoard going into winter AND losing my waxed cotton hat things are looking pretty bleak from your humble author's chair.
If there is any hope of redemption please let it come in the form of Josh's hats and syrup.

Found my hat last night. Had taken it off in the barn to put my welding helmet on and Trey set something on top of it and there it sat for 4 mos.

That's kinda like finding a $20 bill in your ski coat the first time you put it on for the season!

I'll be taking orders for you guys starting in Late January. I think I will be packing in Quarts this year to make it easier for all of us. If any of you guys are close, there is always a possibility of it still arriving hot off the evaporator. It doesn't get much better than that.

Just looked at your OP.... how many trees are you tapping to get 40 gallons of finished syrup? That's roughly 2,000 gallons of sap!

No joke, you're probably pretty close but I figure through spillage etc it's closer to 2500 gallons. I never really count trees because some get one tap and some get 3 or 4 depending on size. I'm up around 200 taps I'd say so probably if guess 150 trees. Thank god syrup season is only 6 or 8 weeks long, I'd never have the stamina to do it year round. It's sooooooooo much work.
