Manual to Automatic

Forgive me if this has been discussed before but... The 1995 D90 I just bought has an LT77 in it because the R380 had an issue and the previous owner had a an LT77 sitting around so he put that in.

I want to put it back to an R380 but then thought it would be cool to put an automatic from a disco in it. I'm not going to try and source all the interior bits from a 97 because they are so hard to find. I would build a center counsel like I did on my 110.

I personally prefer automatic to stick but I want opinions on whether this would help or hurt the value. It's a NAS 90 with a salvage title. I'm going to rebuild it from the ground up but not get too, too crazy about everything being exact to factory original.

Salvage Title? Hurt value? I don't think you have much to worry about since it's already a salvage...

center consol

This is the last one I made. I'm thinking something like this only with a discovery shifter.

The home console isn't bad, especially if this truck is for you to use...but if you're concerned with selling it in the future, I know that I would want it to look more stock. The salvage title is already working against you (in some people's eyes), so the more you can make it appealing would help greatly. I understand there would be a cost associated with this, what that is versus the homemade solution and future sale would be compelling.

To me its all in the details. I would pay more for a truck with a properly done automatic conversion, but unfortunately most conversions come with apologies. Your console looks pretty good, but it still looks homemade. I'd a different route for the center console if I were doing that job.

I have the same Tuffy console in Jeff's shot.
Was planning on removing the cup holder completely but thanks to Jeff, I might just have a better solution.

We have gone through this before but I don't have time to look for the thread. A pic of mine is there - just a speed shifter through the stock boot.

This has been enlightening. Only thing I dont like about the speed shifter through the stock boot is that you have to kinda guess what gear your in.

I'm sure it couldn't be too difficult to work up an indicator of your own...
