Mantec snorkel through wing on a NAS truck?

Has anyone mounted the Non NAS Mantec snorkel to a NAS truck? Specifically this is the standard through wing body panel snorkel (not the one that passes through the wing top plate). If so, can you take some pictures and post up? Looking at mounting one of these in the existing place of my southdown snorkel to reduce the stainless bling.

That would be too easy...

I was considering it though.

A couple of my friends have southdown snorkels for their D2... they used a spray on bedliner (aerosol style) to paint it... worked rather well... one of them ended up chipping off a bit, so just another quick spray and it was back to black..

Now your just changing things for the sake of changing things! Spend more on diesel and come wheel with us.
I have that snorkel BTW. I don't think you want to make the switch, your install is nice and clean.

Just did one because the customer wanted a raised air intake, but did not want it on the drivers side because he felt it blocked his vision. So we modified a Tdi intake to the V8.

Thanks Paul, no I'm not. Just looking to replace my existing Southdown with some more "authentic" and still use the hole i put through the wing 5 years ago.

KB is right. I need to get off my arse and wheel.

Thanks Mike. Do you happen to recall the outer diameter of the snorkel where it enters the wing?

Sorry, I don't and the truck is gone now.

I never liked the side fender intake myself. It kind of sticks out there and if I had one it would have been flattened by a tree while off roading pretty quickly. I like the fender top units myself, just my .02

The main pipe is 2.825" and steps down to 2.515"under the wing where the flex tube goes over it. I had to cut a bit off of the bottom of the pipe in order to be able to snake it around the Mt. Mansfield heater. The very top of the flex hose and clamp to secure it are just outside of the wing on mine but remember I am adapting a Defender unit to a series with a Daihatsu motor.

Last weekend.

Don't want to hijack the thread Dave but do you guys think that a snorkel restricts HP on the TDI at all? I would like one but then my truck will not fit in my garage. it makes it in by about 1/8 of an inch right now.

I had a similar thinig with my Td5 110 here, (and my old 90), where i've got a rollcage fitted, the front upright support bars (that bolt to the bulkhead) are in the way to easily fit that stupid little plastic ait intake thing.

So i just bit the bullet and cut a hole down through the wing top and connected the pipe directly to the air box.

Just make sure you measure several times and get it accurate. I used my die-grinder to open the hole up a bit so it fitted snugly (with some of that push on "edging" stuff)

Thanks guys. Appreciate the responses.

Mike Smith, I'm definitely avoiding the "side of the fender" mount. Was just going to use the existing hole for my southdown snorkel (through top of fender).

Randy, tough to say. I've had one from the start. I could try running with it disconnected for a while without a probelm and give you some info.

KB, we can chat about it if you come over Sat.

If you want me to take measurements, just shout.

I've got the original Td5 "through the side of the fender metal jobbie" as well, if you want piccies/dimensions.
