He said he emailed you back asking for pix and never heard back from you - maybe the pix request made you delete it?

Have you seen the '07+ e60 interior? It isn't drastically different, but I do like how they changed the door panels. The '05 door pull always seems to be right in the side of my left knee, but it isn't too bad. The updated iDrive is nice too with the direct buttons to take you to NAV, Radio, etc.

I have always loved the 507 too, what a gorgeous vehicle!

memories

Favorites have been my 89 325is w/Conforti chip, two 95 M3s (two different times) and my former daily driver a 1994 325is and on another distractive note, my recently sold 83 911SC...all are missed...

Am I the only one who has a fascination with the South Africa spec 2.8i Defender with the BMW motor in it?

I see those parts in the pages of our parts books and always wondered about it. I've never seen one, but always wondered if somehow you could bolt other BMW engines into that Defender.

I do not check PMs. Call or email if you need something.

ECR is not a parts source. We are not in the mail order business.

I asked Ashcroft and the consensus was sure, any six will bolt up. It was not that great of a proposition when all that was available was the 2.8, but with M3 3.3s selling for <5k for the motor, it would make an interesting defender to drive (assuming the R380 did not blow up).

Right, like perhaps any number of BMW 6-cylinder diesels...

That I know will bolt up because the R380 uses the bellhousing out of the p38a diesel. I also saw some bowlers or tomcats with that motor so it probably "fits" well enough.

Ron

PS you are I are so different. I am like, lets get an M3 motor, you are like, lets get a diesel with 120 hp.

I don't recall what they had under the hood when I lived there to be honest. This a recent thing?

IIRC mid-90s. They all had 2.8 litre BMW gas motors. This is from when BMW owned rover.

I was wondering about that motor as well - it was actually found in a (IIRC) Renault-van derived Winebago motor home in that time period as well. I would actually like to have an intact e28 524td.

Its only legit if you ride it 90mph on a residential street one-handed in a t-shirt while your helmet remains attached to the rear-securing peg and not on your head.
