Anybody know of a good rover shop near Lynchburg, VA? Also, has anybody here ever owned #227 (95 SW)? Thanks

Did you buy it? Great looking truck! And only 44k miles, right? Not a bad price if I recall.

I do not know of a Land Rover shop in Lynchburg. Closes dealership is in Roanoke. Lynchburg is about 30-45 minutes away from Roanoke. Happy to help any way I can. What are the details of the truck and I likely know a bit about it already. If it is the Arles Blue 1995 SW for sale I do know that truck.

Thanks. Yes, it's the blue 95 with 44k currently for sale at Bavarian Trade. I have a deposit down and was planning to fly to VA late next week to pick it up. Anything you can tell me about the truck would be much appreciated. Thanks again

Wow, creating a stable pretty fast. You need an ST though!

Troy feels a vibration in the "Force" whenever A defender goes up for sale around him. Where are you on old Blue now?

I'll likely sell #299 if the deal on #227 goes through. I'm looking to do a galv frame swap and some other work, so I wanted a lower milage truck as a starting point. #299 has been a great truck, so if this deal doesn't work I'm in no hurry. If I end up posting #299, I'll list it here before offering to the general public.

Chuck - Ole Blue...still waiting on the rear tub. As you know I have been in the dog house all summer after Tyler fractured his elbow in a big crash in the road race at USA Cycling Nationals in June. That also kept him out of the pool which upset mamma more. Cast just came off this past week and he has been in the pool swimming with mom and riding with dad everyday since. He'll bounce back quickly. He already has his remaining races planned out for the rest of the year.

Rob - I looked at buying that truck several years ago myself. The truck is in very good condition. A home builder in Forest, VA owns(ed) and I recall he was the second or third owner. It was stock but did have the winch bumper and winch set up. I see him at the local rallies and always spoke when I saw him. Maybe more than a year or so ago he went offroad accessory crazy and had someone install springs, shocks and off road protection. All Equip 4x4 stuff. I dont believe I ever saw the truck off road hense the condition. The thing I always found odd about the truck. It is a '95 SW but does not appear to have ever had AC. The bumper/winch set up is just wrong IMHO. It is a 1994 bumper that has been hacked and modified to accomodate the winch which is just a big silver beast. I forget the name of the winch but it just looks odd on the truck. The powder coating on the brush bar is peeling off. It needs a proper winch bumper and winch set up. You will not be disappointned with the condition.

If you fly into Roanoke and need a place to stay or a ride to Lynchburg, just let me know. Again, happy to help out and not that far away. There use to be a direct flight between Roanoke and Chicago. I fly out myself Friday so I will not be in town Friday-Monday.

Hope this helps!

Troy

Thanks Troy. I'm planning to fly into Richmond on Thursday morning and back to Chicago on Thursday evening (couldn't find a good flight from LA to Roanoke). If you're around Thursday afternoon and want to grab lunch, let me know. Also, can you please let me know a shop in Roanoke you'd recommend for an inspection? It doesn't sound like there's anything in Lynchburg so I'm planning to just drive to Roanoke to have the truck checked out (also gives me an excuse for a short road trip).

Land Rover Roanoke. 5000 Franklin Road, Roanoke,VA 24014 877.782.8835. Call and ask for Lisa in Service and make an appointment for a vehicle inspection. Request that Bert perform the inspection. Once you drop the truck off I can pick you up and we can catch some lunch. I just spoke to "Yoda" who gave me those details. Will explain that one later. (Right Chuck?)

Just let me know how your schedule looks.

Troy

Lynchburg has its own airport with planes and everything. Richmond airport is a pretty good hike-2.5 hrs.

I tried to fly into Lynchburg, but there was no good way to get there from LA and then back to Chicago in the same day. Same issue with Roanoke. Looks like I'll be spending some quality time behind the wheel of whatever POS rental car I pickup in Richmond.

FYI, Charlottesville just started a direct route with Chicago and it is much closer than Richmond. About an hour to Lynchburg from Cville. Might be too late but thought I would mention it.
