LR3s Spotted in Canada

Had the chance to see some new LR3s up close at a LR driving school in the middle of nowhere, Quebec, Canada. They look great.

I talked to a guy that'd driven them, and he said they are absolutely amazing...

Not a D-90 of course...but MUCH better than the Disco...VERY powerful, and excellent all around. I peeked inside...they look nice. The guy said they have a knob in the center console that you can dial the traction control according to "wet grass", "sand" "rock" and "mud"...supposedly a major improvement over the Disco settings...again, nothing like a D-90, but pretty damn cool.

I also included a pic of the new Range Rover actually going offroad (sort of).

I know, but they were cool to see up close. If I had the dollars, I might consider it. Pretty sweet.

It does look pretty sweet. I'm about 10 miles away from the headquarters of LRNA (Mahwah, NJ) and I drove there one weekend. They had 2 of them, both in black, and they do look a lot better in person. Too bad I didn't have the camera with me.

I wouldn't mind having one myself...

I willl be going to Canada to the NA dealer launch of the LR3. I leave on tuesday the 12th and return saturday. Land Rover goes all out to show its employees what the product is all about. 5 star lodging, awesome food and lots of off road driving. I am really excited.

I will send Chris some pics of the event the following week. Everyone at Land Rover is saying that its more comfortable, faster, and quieter then the RR. Its going to give the Range Rover a run for its money.

The truck is on the pricey side compared to the current discovery but its cheap amongst its competition, Lexus GX470, Mercedes ML500, Volkswagon Toureg V8.

there is a rumor in the spring LR is launching the LR3 with a V6 that will be priced in the mid 30s.

You're going to like the place. Chateau Fairmont Montebello? Very nice place. You'll definitely dig it. Hey, who makes the new engine on the LR3? I'm sure they got rid of the BMW motor in the Range--it was really costly. Isn't this one a Jaguar (FORD) motor?

engine going into the LR3 is a Jag 4.2 that land rover made into a 4.4 300hp/315 lbs torque, 05 range rover has the Bmw 4.4, later in 05 range rover will have a optional Jag XJR supercharged 400 hp which will be a land rover engine and will have 375 hp.

Yeah I am excited to leave the humid climate and breathe some fresh air. I hope that the leaves dont change but by your pic Torrences i think I may be too late.

Hey Martin,

I won't be far behind you. I will be attending LR3 training the second week of November. I think it will be a little colder when I'm up there! Let me know how it goes.

Will H.

Im back, what a amazing experience. I am hooked on the LR3, one day we went out on a trail that looped around with steep inclines, log bridges and lots of rock and mud. Problem is that the speed that we drove didnt allow for any mud to get on the LR3, sorry.

The food and accomadation was top notch and even the presention that LRU did was to the max.
Here is a couple of picsof the lodge, off roading and a surprise

more to come later, along with the surprise

oh and Will, there was a guy on the trip in my group from one of the Carolina dealers that knew you and said to call you "hobbit" so there I called you it.

You know with all that Land Rover is doing to make it better for on road it's nice to see they take the time to show that it is still a bit capable off road. The winch doesn't look right, but at leats you can add one from the factory. Thanks for the pics and update Martin

The staff for the event consisted of land rover celebs, Tom Collins being the main one. There were other ex camel trophy members on hand. The three days highlighted alot on the offroad capabilities of the LR3.

Here is the big surprise of the event that I spotted, it belonged to the VP of Marketing LR Canada

Probably allowed in as some kind of mileage limited promotional vehicle prohibited from resale - I think there are such categories.

Thanks Martin,

"Hobbit" is one of many nicknames that friends have endeared upon me. I imagine that you probably ran into Kevin, from our Greenville Centre. He's one of my good friends. Anyway, I am defintely pumped about going in 3 weeks. Thanks for the teasers!

Will H.
