LR3 - bad ball joint

New control arms 30k miles ago. The ball joint nut is tight. The nut and threaded shaft is moving with the wheel bearing carrier. Looks if the ball joint is bad. Anyone see something else? Aftermarket control arms from AB. Guess I should have stuck with genuine. https://youtu.be/oqLG7titOpA

If I'm going cheap, how is Dorman? Even more of a POS?

Dorman is meh but there are other options on rockauto for less. You can also just press out the ball joint they are about $20

Has anyone pressed out a ball joint while the control arm remains installed? Wondering if this kit has the right size adapters:

I haven't done it on a lr3 but on a f150 it common practice. Loosen the other mount bolt and pullit Down. Hf has a kit that is cheaper than that and a

I agree. They are about 10 minutes from where I live and I used to sell all of their stuff. Some good, some OK. Mainly stuff like odd bolts and window cranks back in the day. Good family though and nice people.

Either way, my LR3 in 90K miles I did about 5 sets of control arm bushing which included 2 sets of control arms. If I still had it I'd be running poly bushings and OE ball joints. Never actually had a ball joint go bad. That all said you can do the ball joints, but my bet those bushing go south anyway so might be worth just getting new arms. My .02 but I felt that pain a few years back. Good luck.

Russ, might give Walid a call. I know his shop is pretty slow in the summer so he might be willing to bargain. Never hurts to ask.
