LR or diesel mechanic in Nyack NY area?

Hi guys,
Another day another breakdown sadly. Anyone know a good LR or diesel mechanic/garage in the Nyack area, where I have pulled off? Symptoms are black smoke from exhaust and loss of power even when downshifting. Engine running OK, oil temp OK, but no more power and noticeable smoke. Have pulled off the highway in case this turns into something worse. Trying to figure out the problem.
Cheers,
John

First guess would be loss of boost. Any weird noises? Check to see if all the intercooler piping is loose.

There is a guy right off of 9 that always has defenders parked. If not there are several in westchester.

Whereabouts, Ben, is the guy off the 9?

Yeah, on start up i get a belt screech kinda noise but once up and running it goes away. That is new though, that noise. Is not AC belt or compressor.

I would just go with this guy in Westchester I have heard he does good work and it is about a 40 minute tow:

Intermecanica Inc. (Lotus)

I don't have any feedback on anyone else in Westchester or Rockland.

This guy may pick you up he has left his card on my truck a few times but if you are getting a tow to queens you may as well have Chris (Rovertek) fix it.

I think it is in Piermont (the shop with defenders) however I have zero feedback.

The hilarious thing about your good idea, Ben, is that I headed straight to Intermecanica from Nyack but only read your post later last night. The tech who runs the shop, Waldir, is working on my Lotus and I wanted to see him about it that day. So I crawled the 110 over there to Mamaroneck. He looked at the 110 and spotted the missing manifold stud.

Waldir is great but he is mainly a Lotus tech, is inundated with work from Lotus owners as well as the errant Ferrari, Maserati and other exotica, and is on his own. Very nice guy though. He does do Land Rovers too, but is not a specialist for the marque. He himself owns a D90 and a Disco II.

Foreign Car Center has a pretty bad rep.

Glad the truck is back running smoothly
