Lost my wing man...

Her name was Inka-- and she loved our truck. She knew no other way-- whenever we went out, whenever we went camping, it was in a rover. I don't need to explain to all the dog lovers what it means to lose a constant companion for 13 years--because you know... You know what it feels like to feel BLESSED every day, for so much time, with such an incredible, loving, healing creature. Many an evening when I came home, I didn't feel I was worthy of the greeting she gave me and yet every single time I was grateful for how she made me feel. She helped me recover in ways that I can't even explain.

So I raise my glass to our four legged friends-- those here and now! Those that came along with us, but had to leave! To those that we will meet in the future! And hopefully, if I am lucky enough, to meeting each and every one again! If heaven is real, if it is "heaven", I'll know right away--because in my heaven I'll see all the wagging tails meeting me at the gate.

Sorry for the loss of your pup...They definitely go way too quickly

I'm sitting here looking at my 10 year old yellow Lab while I'm writing this and dreading the day...Hopefully it'll be a while!

I'm sure you'll always have a lot of great memories with her...and hopefully you'll create a lot of new ones with another someday.

Good thoughts. Good years she had. Sorry man. Doggy daddy's are a different breed. No bad days for dogs in a loving family, not even the last.

Sorry to hear of your loss. I'm sitting here with my 11 year old black lab by my side as always knowing that my day will too come and dreading it.

That day we don't think about, don't want to come will always be there.
Dogs teach us so much about love, what and who is really important in life. Your home may be quieter today, your heart may have a hole.
But in the sad moments you are having, remember the wonderful memories you shared together.

Came across this a while back.

Sorry to hear about Inka.

Thank you all for the thoughts. I can't believe I put "Inka"-- I lost her earlier this year. This precious one is Lhotse. Too much booze and crying-- not done mourning either, I suppose. Can't believe we lost both our girls so close together, but alas. I know you all know the feeling--

My old girl turned 15 in Sept.... but she's still full of life, just a bit slower & deaf.... or is that selective deafness, still seems to be able to hear the cookie jar but not the call to come back when she's got a sent.
