Locked iPhone data extraction
Hey folks,
I royally busted my iPhone so the screen is completely dead and replacing the screen doesn't address the issue. I took the phone to an apple store and they said that the contacts of the motherboard are shorted.
so in jist. I have a locked iPhone that has never been back backed up. Anyone have any experience extracting contacts off a locked iPhone. The screen is completely blacked out so using the phone to input or bypass any prompts is out of the question.
Cheers
Bill

Did you try hooking it to a computer with iTunes loaded? Doubt it will work unless it is already a trusted device as it will want you to ok the access from the computer.
There are also a bunch of stores that specifically repair cell phones I would trust their op ion on if it can be fixed over the Apple Store.
Worth a shot

I'm assuming it doesn't have finger pad recognition on the home button?

definitely worth a shot, but newer iOS's will recognize that the phone is locked and will not allow any forced back-ups until the phone is unlocked.

Does anybody make a plug-in keyboard for your phone? If so hopefully you can just type your unlock code in and back it up to your computer.

yeah but you need to pair the BT keyboard to the phone...a plug in keyboard won't either...

Normally your iPhone contacts are stored in an email account. Newer iPhone adoptees might have them stored in their iCloud account instead of email.

Yeah unless you turned off contacts under iCloud settings they'll be in iCloud. https://www.icloud.com/. I don't think you can extract anything off of it if you can't unlock it. Maybe Apple can do it though. I'd visit the Apple store again.

I have access to various venders that could recover the data, but it is not economically rational to do so.

Phone powers up perfectly. Itunes was a no-go. Keyboard option I have a feeling may not work as you need to click on "trust device" which is impossible. I have the passcode so i cant imagine it should be an issue.

Did you setup an email and passcode for the App Store?
