"Living Datlights" Bond 90

Imported this 90 from England because it was a factory Lhd v8 with only 90,000 km on the clock. Owner said it had been in a James Bond movie but I had no reason to believe him besides some tan paint on plastic bits that had never been cleaned
off properly and some strange rivet patterns on the bonnet and wings. I contacted heritage motor centre and they confirmed it had been dispatched straight from factory to Eon Productions at Pinewood Studios. I talked with the studios and was able to find the original sales receipts.

A collector bought it and has asked to have the truck brought back to movie condition. This was quite a task as there are no pictures or description of the 90 anywhere. Using just screen caps from the movie I was able to get it back a close as possible. It might be ugly but it is a one of a kind Rover.

It is going to live in California now. I'm trying to find a Rover mechanic for the owner in the Pasadena area. If anyone can help out and send me some info I would be grateful.

Here are a few pics. I might get it in a publication so more pics to come later.

I remember that scene. My best guess is that it was an attempt to make it look like a military style vehicle from an old Eastern Block country or even some Third World.

I don't know why they didn't try to procure a real Lada instead of altering a Defender.

That's what I've heard people say. Bond was fighting the red army in Afghanistan in the movie . So it would make some sense.

Geez. Doesn't look anything like a UAZ, but I think you're right. Color looks off though. Why didn't they just buy a freakin' UAZ for the movie? They could have probably picked one up for $20 and got a bowl of rice and lamb with it to boot.

Color was a pain in the ass. It is slightly off. Closer than it looks from screencaps. There was no color code to go by. Only some left over paint on seat bottoms and back of one rim. Scanners couldn't pick it up. No swatches matched that I could find. Spent weeks just trying to match and that's as good as I got. I'm pleased with final product as a result of what I had to work with.
