Amazing! the Source always has everything first.
After checking in here to see what has been going on, I went and checked my email. There was one from my cousin's husband (who is South African). He said he thought I would enjoy some pictures that some friends of his father had taken while on a recent trip... Yes, they are the same pictures as these plus two others.

Amazing!

Yes, I'm going to email back to him that I've already seen 'em.

Spooky though, he said that the people on the trip were, at least part of the time, on motorcycles!

Hmmm,

My wife works with a guy from South Africa that sent them to her, she told me that his sons friend that works for the park took the pictures (maybe the same person since we both live here in Colorado?)

FYI I did not post the other 2 since you can see the people in them and I thought that it would be wrong to post their faces since I do not know them

So I guess to change a tire in Africa it really takes two people. One to change the tire and one to be look out?

I wonder how long it took them to get the poop smell out of the 90.

Maybe its a case of "small world"?

My cousin's husband is named Kim. He works for Qwest, some sort of computer programmer thing.

The email he forwarded to me is entitled "Okavango 2k8 final update".
From what I can gather, its kind of a statistical update of long motorcycle road trip. It has statistical highlights of the trip including info. like who drank the most beer, took the most pictures, highest speed on trip (256km/h!), highest fuel consumption (14.8l/100km Diesel). It also mentions a G-Wagen and trailers so I assume part of the trip could have included a Defender.

Kim's email stated that these were pictures that his father's friends took while on Safari, but since he had the pictures second-hand I guess its possible that someone else took them and he just misunderstood where they came from. Right above the pictures in the email it says "in diesem sinne, bis zum naechsten mal......". I guess its german since they all speak it, I don't know if it sheds any light on where the pictures come from.

In any case, they are great pictures, Dave, and quite a coincidence they should show up at my computer from two such different sources at the same time.

No, you want hi-res versions of the pix without the little logos?

I can't really verify the veracity of the buddy-of-a-buddy claim though...

I'm really not much of a picture expert, I don't know hi-res from whatever else there is and I don't get the little logo reference. Was your buddy of a buddy on a motorcycle trip, perhaps?

The cousin's husband is contacting his father, who origionally recieved the email, to get the low down on the pictures. Its freakin' bizzare three of us have the same pics with appearently different stories.

I love these friend of a coworker's cousin's aunt's dad's whatever stories!

I'm my own grandpa!

Those are crap tires anyway... no big loss. I wonder if they have a road hazard warranty - The owner of the truck should be thankfull - he has a good excuse to put a good set of BFGs -MTs on his truck.

If I were the driver I don't think I would have waited around for even the 1st tire to be eaten... all he would have had to do is just slowly roll away... those are male lions - they are generally too lazy to chase anything... they let the females hunt down and kill dinner.
I took a second look at the driver... DOH! .... no wonder ... "woman driver" !!!

That third photo looks like alot of weight on that SW rear door mounted spare, wonder how those hinges are doing, and if the door is now a bit 'untrue'. LOL!

Looking at the third pic, I wonder what was going on. There is a lion at the rear and one on the side, yet everyone in the truck is looking to the front left.
